Do you feed your snake(s) during the day, at dusk, nighttime, whenever you get around to it? Is there any reason why you choose to do it that way? Do you think the feeding time varies by species, whether diurnal or nocturnal?

I typically feed my snakes around 7-8pm but I have no real reason why.

It depends on the species. Diurnal species get fed morning and mid afternoon. Nocturnal species get fed around 9pm.

We tend to feed about 7-8pm as its just after daughter goes to bed and leaves enough evening for us to relax too :)
Usually about 11 pm once everyone's in bed and it's quiet.

Evening/night time... My brb is a shy snake and I've noticed all my snakes seem more comfortable feeding at night.

Any time after about 5pm the later the faster they seem to eat. I have two that will not eat before 8pm. I can put it in but they won't touch it until it starts getting dark and i am not in the room.

Anytime after 7pm for me, which is when I'm usually done with classes and/or coursework.
I've fed my balls at 10 am and I've fed them at 10 pm and likely every time in between. They could care less when they eat.
Yeah I feed when ever works for me... seems to work for them just fine too. Generally its just before I go to bed though, so 4-6 I guess.

I feed mine when I get around to it, usually in the evening because everyone else is asleep and I can have some peace.
Last night I fed a bunch of garters at 3:00am, and they all ate just fine.

So with the exception of BB, the majority census is "whenever." I feed on weekends, mixing it up between Saturday or Sunday (sometimes even Friday), usually around 7-8. Now with two of my MGB's and one new BRB having uwt to eat for me, I'm thinking of changing it up somehow. That's the reason I asked for your opinions.
Thanks for playing!

One thing with feeding in the eveing rather than morning for me, if one of them doesnt eat i can leave it overnight and they can have total peace to eat if they want, if i left it after trying in the morning then we are walking back and forth in front of the vivs all day.

I've always thought that too. I learned from snakesitter to re-warm first, then re-offer in the morning. My concern with that is, if I fed at 7pm, then again at 9am, thats 14 hours the prey item has been sitting, in an enclosed space that's probably heated and humid. That's a looooong time for something as small as a pinky or fuzzy, or even small mouse, isn't it?
Where do you "draw the line" in that respect?

I feed mainly at night, between 7-10 pm, though there have been times when i've fed my 7 month old Sand Boas during mid-late afternoon.

Ok, so everyone (except the two newbies because I know they just ate not long ago) has had opportunity to eat. So far it looks like everyone is eating except the Madagascans. Which h brings me to my next question:
How do you feed? Drop method, tease feed, tease feed from tongs or other? (I really need to find my tongs.)

I do the old, reliable, tease feeding with the hemostats. Just gently move the prey item, and my snakes snatch it right off them, and wrap it up.

The M.G.B.'s almost always shy away from it. I'll have to ask how they did it at Reptmart. They'redtail left alone now for the night.

Same. Always after dark. Most of mine could care less when the eat but I seem to get a better feeding response at night.

Depends upon the animal and what I'm feeding. When my royals get offered f/t, I have to tease them with tongs. Live food gets dropped in. A few of my animals I just drop the f/t in. They have a high feeding response and tag it as soon as it hits the tub floor (sometimes they think they're dogs and tag it in mid drop). Other animals that don't have a high feeding response get teased. Allie, my problem feeder burm, has a high feeding response but she refuses to tag it unless I tease her with it.
Sometimes I'll tease the ones that have high feed responses just to give them a bit of variation. The last time I did it, one of my dumerils tagged her food so hard she ripped the tail out...the tail was still left in the tongs and she had the rest of the body wrapped. She eats large rats....
Mine all eat from my hands... 'cept Punk, she's too nuts.

My Bredli and Diamond x Jungle like to shoot their heads out of the cage before i can open it enough to drop the rat in. As soon as i crack the cage door they grab it right out of my hand. Last week my Diamond x Jungle did it so fast i was left holding a blood tail.I didn't even see her head shoot out. With all but three of mine i just open the cage really fast threw it in and hope i don't get tag. My Dumeril and Juggernaut i just lay it in the cage and by mid night it's gone. They are very bashful eaters. My big Jungle Electra I have to dangle it right in front of her. Then after she sniffs it for a few minutes i lay it down and she'll it eat.

All my snakes tease feed from tongs except one corn who i leave the prey on an upturned hide and our SD retic who we just throw the rat into the viv and close the doors as quick as possible before he launches at us!!
