100 mixed bag....and they are all SO small! THere's not one in there that is even an inch. I am so surprised. I really thought i'd be getting all sizes...i mean that's what Mixed meant, so i thought.
OH well, i am going to order some more that are large. I'll go ahead and start a colony with these, but i'm going to need to get a bunch of a adults since i want to move my pyxie frog to strictly insects. I thought, Oh boy they'll get here and i can start the feed, as well as breed! Boy was i mislead *lol*
Oh well, frog will get a few more fish, and i'll have to hit petsmart for crickets and worms for him and my crock skink.
ANYway...my 60 gallon tank that houses my huge male (older) ball python is artfully placed on camoflauged cinder blocks on the floor (lol) so there is room underneith to slide a nice long not too tall sterilte tub right under it to be near his UTH. I need to hit petsmart anyway since i wasn't sure when they'd arrive and haven't bought cat or dog food yet for them. They are actually a lot cuter than i thought they'd be. I'm kind of indifferent to roaches, but hubby hates them so i made him put them away in a temporary tub while i made a show of eating a burger ...(that's why i couldn't deal with them..i was in the middle of a meal!!) hehee ain't i a stinker? hehe

You may have better results and more of a size mixture going through Traci?
Welcome to the club! You may want to find a warmer place for them than your floor though. They breed better at warmer temperatures, like in the high 80s to low 90s. Although maybe there is a lot of heat coming off the tank above, not sure. Don't worry, they'll grow fast!

Just shows, us monitor freaks ain't normal....
You just need more time to start thinking like a lizard.
I would try one...never have yet but if the price was right... :)

Is now a good time to mention that I use to catch crickets solely for the purpose of eating them?

okay, yucky yucky no i won't be trying these myself *lol*
Alright, here's a pic of their set up. They're in there...point if you can see some! They're small and all hiding.
Humidity, and heat are all good. They were growing fast! And then day before yesterday hubby put water in there for them....all over...uhm, that's why i have the water Crystals. lol a few died and drowned. i had to clean up...and it stunk! ugh. actually i made him do most of the cleaning because i had a migraine, but the majority survived.
Just a quick question...how do they breed? I mean, am i going to notice something?

Oh :) well! A female lays her eggs and then sucks them back in to her. She will give a live birth :) to around 30 babies! You will notice

excellent! i was hoping they didn't like, lay them on their food or something. for some reason it wasn't on any care sheets i read, and i hadn't thought about it until now. duh! lol

Well i will if my hubby doesn't drown some of them again *rolls eyes* lol
I actually like these little guys though. They kind of have praying mantis heads...and if you've seen my other posts, you know i like mantids! (i have ghost ones :)

They birth their babies iinto their own "dirt" in the bottom of the container - NEVER clean the container or the babies wont have anything to feed on :) Personally i would also add a lot more layers of cardboard for them - i will try to find the pic i had of mine :)

I actually found dubias to be delicious, they taste like pork, except crunchier, and they try to run out of your mouth...
Also ive found that what you feed them has a direct impact on flavour, my friend feed mostly apples, so the first few dubias i ate tasted like pork and applesauce. One time though i had the privilege of eating one that had been fed mostly banannas...... wont be doing that again
lol, I don't know if you are joking or not but it sounds interesting :)

If that is directed at me, I am 100% serious
Thats awesome...I don't think i could deal with them trying to crawl out though. maybe if they were already dead.
