So as some of you know I have been building a viv for my GTP who is still in Quarantine. Looking at my GTP and looking at the viv I think it is WAY to large.
Here is a pic of it almost done. The divider in the middle separates 2 doors. The bottom door will open down and the top door opens like a cabinet. I will get more pictures later.. it is set up for 4 perches and a Radiant heat panel. It measures 36" tall x 24" deep x 36" wide

So How large will my male Biak GTP get ? He is still changing from yellow to green and I think 2yrs old. Would this viv be better suited for something else? If so I am open to another snake ( expo is next weekend :) ) Also I am ok with building a smaller viv for my GTP.

My hubby and I build all our own vivs, I sketch out what I want and he helps me create it. Here is my other thread on vivs

Thanks!
I was thinking that or an Amazon Tree boa. I think I want something larger than the GTP for it. Right now my GTP just seems so small compared to the size of the viv.

The average size of a GTP is 4 to 5 feet long. Thats a good size cage and at night your GTP will use every inch of it and love it.

Thanks! We build them for fun. They are not perfect and we don't have the time to build more than what we use. If we are not building a viv we are working on another project. I have been offered money to build them and maybe once we get some free time I will do a few here and there but never anything more than a hobby.

I was thinking about them... How large do they get?

Five to seven feet, but they are very slender.

Hrmmm.. ok so not much larger than my GTP .. I will see what I find at the expo next weekend and leave it at that. Maybe I will just put my GTP in this one and build a matching one for an ATB.. :D

No, not really. In fact, GTPs are heavier bodied snakes than Amazons. And Amazons are much more active.

what about something like a coastal or jungle carpet?

Gungirl

I have been thinking about getting a carpet. I have seen some amazing ones on here that make me drool. I am going to just see what is at the expo and if I find something amazing I will bring it home. lol Other wise my GTP will have a mansion for now.

I think a coastal would be too big for that. Even for a jungle.

Pretty sure Dave's Dragons is bringing an ATB or two to the show Kat.

Well if I bought something that was going to out grown the viv I would just build another one.. lol

I am in love with ATB's

OMG :Wow: those are amazing beautiful snakes! I forgot about those... I have always LOVED the way they look. That is a REALLY good Idea. I have never seen one in person and I have no clue what they run $$.... :hmm: I doubt one will be at the expo though :( I guess I could Order 1 depending on $$

a White Lipped would be very cool, dunno about the price though.

Gungirl

I got a Pm from a great member on here who found me a White lipped for $100.. I have also seen a few for $60-300 depending on age breeder and sex. I am waiting a little bit longer before deciding though. However a White lipped is high in the running.

doesn't seem like too bad of a price.
