Toxicodryas (Boiga) blandingii

I've been working with these amazing snakes for some time now and thought I'd share some photos with you guys as I haven't seen a lot of them around.

They occur in eastern africa and can grow up to 2.5m in length. Their venom is not well studied and it is believed that a large specimen can deliver a bad bite.

I don't know that I've ever seen these before. Very interesting looking snakes. The last photo looks like he's grinning. I don't have any desire to have hots myself, but I sure do enjoy looking at them. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome snake...I love the cat-eyed snakes! That last picture is hilarious;..he looks like he is leering a "creepy old man" look.

I used to own mangrove snakes- man they were testy buggers! Keep the pictures coming- gotta love unusual snakes! :)

It freaks me out that from the first photo I couldn't tell if it was venomous or not.... and then bam! they have fangs. Geez! What a great looking animal though :yes:

The fangs are underneath the eyes, and are pretty small. I've seen a few brown cat-eyed snakes for sale at shows, and they were always sold with venomous tags and labels, even though I don't think they can kill or cause significant necrosis.

Can this species?

Willow783, I know a member of the Boiga genus has killed before but deaths are exceptionally rare. When it comes to these, well, no-one really knows ! I doubt that a bite from the above would be lethal but let's not find out lol...;)
