Cali King Regurgitated Meal

So 3 weeks ago my king Noodle regurged his meal. I thought it may have been because it was too big for him. The week prior I tried feeding him his first fuzzy and he got it down but the next week he had it down for like a day and I found it in the corner of his cage. It was mainly undigested, still very mouse-like. I wasn't too concerned, I know its bad for them but I thought I knew why he had done it.

Anyway I waited a week and tried feeding him his normal 6 pinkies and he threw them up again after keeping them down for about a day. I was worried still but figured his system was stressed and I shouldn't have fed him his normal 6 but less like maybe only 3.

So this past Sunday I fed him 3 pinkies and he just threw up a very digested glob of mouse. Much more digested than his past two regurges.

Please, I am coming here for help, I don't need any bs or drama. Im taking him to a vet tommorrow but I need to know if theres anything I can do for him in the meantime.

He is a California King Snake. His temps are at 72-75/82-86 and 55-60% humidity. He is on half aspen(the black kind if it matters) and half cocofiber/cypress 9:1 mix. He always uses the bathroom on his cold side so that's why I switch to cocofiber for it, to absorb better.

After a regurge i believe it is recommended to leave it at least 14 days before attempting to feed again, and then to feed a smaller than usual prey item.

Let us know what the vet says :)

When they regurge you shouldn't feed them for at least 14 days like Rob said.
They lose a lot of stomach acids and things they need for digestion in that process.

I think you're already doing what you need to by taking him to a vet.

Roger that, thanks you guys. The only things I could think of that have changed are my alarm cloock was moved closer to his cage and I took away his heat lamp and am just using UTH's.

So maybe hes getting scared everyday when my alarm goes off or else the heat from above was a good thing for him.

I just looked in on him, his tongue is flicking and he's looking out of his hide. Normal behavior kinda. He did shed last night though, so maybe that was the reason for this last regurg. I didnt even know he was getting ready to I left him alone all last week and Sunday his eyes looked normal. Regardless, I have a 40minute drive to the vet.

Just a thought with the change of heating are you 100% sure that the temps are ok for him? If the temps arent right then regurge is possible :)

I agree with what everyone posted above. 14 days sometimes longer. Check temps to make sure there is at least a place 85 for him/her to crawl to. I don't know how you have your set up but temps are usually the main culprit. For everyone here if you ever have a regurge have some NutriBAC df on hand. It's roughly 14 bucks I think. I had a male knoblochi last year that regurged even after a 20 day wait. Waited another 10 and fed him a smaller food item dusted with NutriBAC df and did this for the rest of the month with no more ill effects. It is a probiotic by replacing some of their stomach micro-organisms. For a few bucks it's worth having on hand. Have to keep it refridgerated after opening though.......Good luck glad to hear a vet visit is on the way. Keep us updated.

I'm going to pretty much reiterate what everyone else has suggested. Double check your temps. After that, don't offer food again for at least 14 days. Then offer smaller/less food for at least a couple of feedings.

Hope the trip to the vet is nothing more than just minor husbandry issues (temps and food).

Why are you feeding 6 pinkies?? Why not one or even two larger food items? I'm guessing here but I know my neonate corns could eat that many mouse pinkies if I gave them to them but I feed ours two rat pinks and am upping the size very soon to weaned mice(rodentpro sale). HAH!! the order just arrived lol. Anyways I am guessing your cal king is around the same size as my corns and could probably handle a couple of rat pinks or one larger food item.

Do you mean cypress instead of aspen? If not that stuff molds very fast (aspen) and you wont see it because its dyed black. I would recommend only using cocfiber and or cypress if you are going to have high humidity.

Or he could use repti-bark also good it what I use mostly

I just know that the aspen I use gets moldy quickly if it gets soaked. I bought a big bag of cypress for more humid enclosures and may switch everything to it except the hognoses and rosies.

Yea aspen will mold but its good for corns and stuff what I use for my corn doesn't need a lot of humidity so its fine for rhem just not for humid reptiles reptibark is easer to find were I'm at than cypress so that why I use it you can even re use the stuff
