Ooooooh! Eastern, right?

How do I get mine to eat from my hand? Is yours active when she's out? Or does she like to just chill?

Awww!

Do you think I can eventually start trying with mine? Like 6 months or more from now when she's completely used to me and such. She doesn't show any aggression. Only rattles her tail when caught of guard, but she mainly did that the first couple days and only when I didn't let her "smell" me before I picked her up

It's certainly worth a try.. I have several snakes that will pluck the mouse from my hands.

Just don't be afraid if they miss, it's not really much more than a pinch.

Thing is, if you jerk when you react, it will spook the snake, so you have to remain calm until they let go of your hand.

Is that okay for them? I'd prefer to have something darker than the aspen. But, I'll give her whatever is best for her.

I have never had a problem, this stuff holds humidity better than aspen, so tropical milks actually do better on it.

Just keep it misted or it turns to dust.

I'm not afraid of her biting because I haven't seen her teeth yet lol. I would probably start off with holding the mouse by its tail and slowly work up if she doesn't seem to mind me.
Her head is so small I can't imagine her bite being painful anyway. Plus she didn't even strike at the mouse. She just smelled it, and started eating. At first I wasn't even sure if she actually has her mouth open, or if she's just laying her head on the mouse.

Then I would say it's safe to try.

Even with a heat lamp on, I don't think I'll ever have humidity issues where I live. It's usually between 70-80% so I think the heat lamp gets it down to where it's just right. I know she's a Red, but I'm not sure locality-wise.

I used to use the EcoEarth for my hermit crabs and I loved it. With the aspen I feel like I'm keeping a hamster lol

Yay!

I'll give it a couple months, but I'm excited to try :D

Nelson. She has a new home now, but she was a wonderful girl for the 3 years I had her:

After further look at it, it could possibly be a red intergrade or possibly a syspila x amaura. Do you know what part of the country it came from? Here's the reason I am asking, typically red milks have more of a saddle pattern and not bands that go all the way to the ventral(Belly). What does the belly pattern look like? Is it mottled with black and whit or does the bands connect at the belly.

I am wrong as the snout has a little to much white mottling in it. How many red bands does it have? What is it's length?

here he is.. i cant wait till hes solid black! hes already a good deal bigger than this pic and it was only 2 months ago..

I took him out today int he sun (hes starting to shed, so last time to handle him before hes off limits for a week or so) cause it was 75 out and he has gorgeous blue iridescence over all his black scales! Ill get a pic once he sheds again.

They seemed sure that she's a Red, but didn't know the locality. I'll post a belly pic

Thanks for posting the belly pic, without definite locality it is hard to tell. It looks more like a Louisiana milksnake (L.t.amaura) to me. Like I said before could be an intergrade. Really nice looking milksnake no matter what ssp. Congrats!

All I really care about is that she's gonna stay healthy, and that she's not gonna get much bigger haha! She has a great temperament and I love her :D
