But I found this little ring-neck snake in my pool today while I was on the back porch. I just love how small these little guys are and how bright their bellys are. You can see how little his was in my hand and he is an adult. He didn't like being held though, so I just got a few pics then sent him on his way. Enjoy!

The curling of the tail and their bright colors is to distract predators right?
Well it attracts humans:Wow:pretty snake you found!

Yea I'm pretty sure the curling of the tail is to scare away predators. I didn't get a pic of it but he would have about 2 or 3 curls spiraled up, it looked like a wine opener. It was really cool looking with his deep reds showing.

I've only seen maybe 5 wild snakes in the last 3 or 4 years and all of those were by chance. Everytime I've gone looking for snakes, its always a bust.

I have seen about 9 small garters already this year. I also almost stepped on a few toads out behind our shed. I think I will have good luck finding/seeing things this year.

Yea he was small for sure. About a year and a half age I actually found and baby one that just hatched out of its egg. The egg was still soft and moist. You want to talk about small, this little guy was 3 or 4 inches tops. And was about the width of a mealworm, I felt like I was going to hurt him when I was holding him.

Soooo lucky! Those little things are so pretty. I have wanted one since my post about tiny snakes. If I ever see one it will make my year.
