hey guys, i could get an albino female for $375 shipped... would it be worth it, or...
should i get another pastave, or 1.1 cinnamons?
i have the 1.1 het albinos, would it be worth it to get the albino, or should i get something else to produce more mojaves, and pastels?
is it worth it to get the albino, and prduce say like.... pastel hets, spider hets, ect...?
Assuming.. Ball Pythons?
Sure? If you want to?
I would go with the albino...love the albino.

i do too, they my favorite.. but from a breeding aspect, would it be more benificial to produce ...
spiders, pastels, mojaves HET albinos,
or
more pastaves, pastels ect...
if it was for a pet, i would of already paid. lol, for breeding purposes though, i am not sure... (it is still a pet though too)
I would still take the albino fror breeding purposes. With your hets you only get a 25%of the clutch breeding them to each other.Where albino to het albino you get 50% albino in the clutch.Breeding a het albino to anything else only gives you a 50% chane that the offspring will carry the gene..were as the albino bred gives you a 100% het if bred to anything else :ie spider etc.
Not a ball breeder..Mykee or arron would be the guys to ask.

that sums it up for me... if its still availible, i will jump on it. Hopfully one of those 2 guys sees this and chimes in :)
You have to think too with albinos.. more people go "oh albino! thats a morph that i can get that wont cost me $50000" (whether its true or not) and people will buy more, even if they "make less money"
that said, unless breeding if your only income, then "beneficial" is purely subjective. Which snake do you like more/will enjoy breeding more? thats beneficial, unless you purely mean financially.

breeding will only be for a hobby/fun... i have a full time job for finacial stability...

Definitely get an albino IMO ;)
Edit: actually... 1.1 cinnys. Super cinnys = dream.
Or...get both? can you get all 3? :p
I haven't seen the market long but I can honestly say people ask about albinos more then anything else we have... There is still a market for them, especially since the price is more in the range of a pet now. Plus!!! You breed your 1.1 het's and then what? Breed backwards?? Nuh-uh, go for unrelated!! Especially with albinos! I say jump on it, all over it!

i have room for about 5 more... i have money for about 3 more... if i can get a good price on 1.1 cinny i will get all 3, he still hasnt emailed me back.. so im thinking that he no longer has the 0.1 albino....
Albinos will always have the curb appeal that other ball python morphs lack.
As for what to get; you're the ones who'll be feeding them, cleaning them, watering them, breeding them, heating them so you should get what you like. That's the golden rule to having any staying power in a hobby/business that has a shelf life of about 2.5 years.

lol, i know!!

The Ball Python Shelf Life is a little somthing I realized a few years ago after watching breeders come and go like a revolving door. People get into this hobby for one of two reasons; to breed and make money or to collect and enjoy.
The first group (and 95% of keepers end up in this group) realize that they can make money off their collection and try their hand at breeding. When things don't work out ideally their first season, they pack it in and go home. Because their main objective was money, feeding, cleaning and pairing got to be a chore rather than a joy. They are usually gone within 2.5 years. I've seen this with breeders who have two animals and I have seen this with breeders who have 100+ animals.
The second group (5% or so ) actually keep their ball pythons because they love them and have zero desire to breed them. They remain a pet, and the keeper remains in awe of them.

i see, thank Mykee... i would say i am the 5% group though, like i said, i have a full time job, and finacially stable, so i dont NEED to make money, if i get lucky and hit some toffees, or albino pied (few years from now, ) and make some money then awesome!, if not, i will continue to breed to have fun, and just admire the snakes their selves.
referring to the albino, i talked to my wife, and she said no, but i think i can swing her. but still no email. :(
