Congrats! My first is 15 months now, but I still have a perfectly clear memory of hearing that heartbeat. My hubby and I smiled at each other all the way home. The first kicks are hard to be sure of because they feel something like having a rumbly stomach, but pretty quick the kid will manage to nail mom in some unfortunate organ. So many people try to scare you (intentionally or not) with how much sleep you will lose and how difficult it all is, but I've discovered that the first year goes so fast and those kinds of problems are measured in only hours or months. If you get out of your own head and take a moment to appreciate where your baby is at right now, you find that it really isn't that bad. Rocking a baby at 2am becomes an opportunity to really look at her and how she's changing, marvel at her tiny fingers and huge eyelashes. You can sleep when you're dead. Here's to a happy healthy baby!

I heard the heartbeat for the first time last week it's pretty surreal
When we were expecting i recorded the heartbeat onto my mobile and used it as a ringtone, it was awesome, everytime the phone rang my eyes filled with happy tears. Unfortunately the phone died and i lost the recording but i can still remember what it sounded like and how it felt.
There is no feeling on the planet like becoming a parent, now matter how much you think it is possible to love something it is a billionth of the love you feel the first time the midwife hands you a newborn to hold :)

That's so sweet next time I will definitely have to record it! We can't wait for our little one to get here. We decided to not find out the sex of the baby so there is even more anticipation! Only 5 more short months to go!
