So after all of the heated arguments about savannah monitors and rodents, and i just attended a lecture for a university wildlife nutrition class I am really thinking about feeding my sav rodents, not a lot of course but maybe a 80% insects 20 % rodents. The calcium they can get through the rodents bones is very good, the fat they can get it good as well. But what I learned in this class is they can get a lot of the rodents nutrients which would make them more active with a couple mice every week. The hair, they can get a lot of protein from it, they obvs obviously won't digest it fully but in all what I am trying to say is a few rodents a week 20% of a savs diet will make them have more energy in the Long run. I'm highly considering this.
There is no set formula,it should be based on your specific conditions.Strive for better conditions, but feed according to your conditions.

I like Moe's answer.
Also, like I said on the other forum, I question who gave this lecture. Animals can't digest hair, and therefore can't get anything out of it. The fat isn't good for savannah monitors. And lastly, I've seen from experience that rodents don't mae them more active.
