few days after these pics, she passed... i am starting to think it was dehydration, although she had water and humid hide all the time... she is missed, and she was loved...

RIP Kerrella <3

Was she even moving when you took those pics? She looks...strange :hmm:
Her eyes definitely have retained eye caps on them...poor baby :(

I'm so sorry for your loss :( Losing a friend is never easy -hugs-

Sorry for your loss. Is that stuck shed on the eye or is it bulging out?

she was active during these pics. (after the pics, i took her out and she was normal acting, and yes, it is stuck shed, only on there for a few days... these were her "new skin" pics actually)

and thanks, its getting better :)

So sorry for your lose.

The way she has her head in the pictures is similar to how some of mine where holding their heads before passing. Years ago i had gotten a boa that turn out to have IBD or Inclusion Body Disease. It wiped out my entire collection. The snake that had it was the last one to pass. I would keep a close eye on the rest of your snakes. If any of your other snakes get sick or die save their body and get it to a vet to find out the cause of death.

Was she near any of your new snakes? Did she show any signs of wobbling?

I'm sorry to read about her passing, DeEuGi. She was a gorgeous little thing. As Alessia said, losing a friend is never easy. :-(

It would be a good idea to try and learn why she passed. I know it's awkward, but a little work now will ensure no other snakes you have/get in the future develop the same problem. Also make sure you clean her viv, furnishings, and tools as thoroughly as possible, preferably with bleach. Again, apologies, but better safe than sorry.

Good luck, and please post any questions if we can help!

Rest in peace, little girl.

She looks like she was very near death in those pictures. She looked very dehydrated. I also agree with Chuck, the way she held her head is similar to snakes I have seen with IBD.

no, no signs of wobbling, and all my other snakes are fine. ... i havnt seen anything else wrong in any of them, other that a regurge, witch was my fault (i over fed)

how do they get IBD?

her cage was washed with bleech immediatly, and washed completly out... i then used it to put all the babies in (as a temp rack) and they are all fine... every one else is good, i did have a corn die around the same time, but i konw she wasnt eating for me, i just thought it was because it was winter...

all other snakes are doing good, eating, and pooping, and shedding just fine....

,my only thing is, how could she be dehydrated when she had water, humid hide and high humidity all the time (except for a short span after the new cage)

:( thanks everyone for the condolences... its hard, but i learned alot from it.

They pass it through bodily fluids. Most often, it's from breeding or mites.

She was probably dehydrated from her environment. In the pictures, it looks very dry in there. Rainbow boas need an ambient humidity level (all around the enclosure, not just in a hide) of at least 75% (it's often argued that they need humidity of above 80%).

this pic was underneath the humid hide....

i did not put these pics up to argue or have people talk bad about me, or the set up...

the whole cage was moist, except for under the humid hide where these pics where at.

the whole cage was humid, although i know she was dehydrated, due to her eyes..

i can garentee that humidity was very high in the cage, maybe not in this set of pics, or at this certain moment since it was underneath the humid hide, but the whole cage was humid, and most of the mulch was damp...

this thread is to just honor the passing of her, not to disscuss why or what happened... because i am sure it was dehydration, and i am very upset at that, since it was my fault..

I apologize for interrupting the vibe of this thread. I'm sorry for your loss, I really am. I just thought you wanted an explanation by saying you didn't know why she passed. Again, I'm sorry.

I didn't mean to be unkind or critique you, at all! I'm sorry if that's how you read it. I was just responding to BB because I'd remembered that other thread you'd had about her. I too had understood that since you said you didn't know why she passed away, that it would be ok for us to discuss it. I'm sorry I didn't know you didn't want that...

This thread should absolutely be about honoring her. Don't beat yourself up, though. Most of us strive to give our reptiles the best care we can offer, and I'm sure you did exactly that. She was beautiful too. It's never easy to see a friend go, no matter what the circumstances. Hugs

I dont mean any dis respect either, especially to BB, its just i tried my best and worked so hard to get her to trust me again... and we were finally getting back to where we were as she was a baby... and then she passed, again, i odnt mean to be mean or rude to you, BB, or Marvelfreak, i know your trying to help, but i just felt a little offended in the "dry mulch" commet.

wait, could IBD cause aggression in any way?!?!

Why don't we start another thread on IBD and its symptoms.

I agree...and perhaps we can oblige on a kind moderator to transfer some of the "causes" discussion over to the start the new thread, leaving just the sympathy posts here to honor her.

Again, my condolences.

i also agree with this, if Wayne, or another moderator wants to move the causes of IBD to a seperate thread, i will be more than happy to talk about it... this thread will stay just for condolences. thanks.

I just saw this, I'm really sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful BRB. I would like to add that even though your hygrometers may have read appropriate humidity, it is possible that they were reading wrong. Just an fyi.

I am sorry for your loss. I know you hurt, and people don't want to feel blame for their pets passing, but she really is dehydrated. I understand that you had a humid hide and everything, but her eyes don't lie. You can tell just by looking at her that she was dehydrated. BRB's don't handle being dry well, not even for a day. I don't mean to sound harsh or blaming you, but we need to learn from our mistakes. Again, I am sooo sorry for your loss.

I'm curious what you guys are seeing apart from the stuck eye sheds that shows dehydration?

they are right... a stuck eye shed is usually a tell tale sign that humidity is too low...

like i said, they are right, i thought the humidity was fine, but she shed, and had that stuck (everything else came off in 1 peice), but stuck eye caps is a sign of low humidity, and dehydration...

so its sad, and hurts, but it was my fault, i though i had it under control, but i messed up.. :( next BRB, if i get one, i will only keep it in a tub!
