i have quite a few snakes and i love em all, but my biggest boa is 8 feet long at 25 lbs. If there were any snake i could own it would be a burm. Every burmese python i have seen has dazzled me with their colour and their markings. Except i live in Alberta Canada and they are banned here :( Although it is very cold outside and just snowed 3 feet two days ago, i am not allowed to own a pet burm :( so basically i am really bored today and if anyone else is haha i want to see your burms! post some pics of your giant beauties! :D

Oddly enough, Even though Anacondas Retics and African Rocks are banned here in Iowa, Burms are not. I dont think Ill ever own one though as much as Id like to. I just dont have the housing for them.

Once my reptile room is done we are getting a burm. Before any ban happens here.
I have noticed many for sale now as " snake of Burma" to avoid any trouble.

Is reptile world in Drumheller still around? They had a pile of them all housed together the last time I was there (which was admittedly about 9 years ago)

Kyle or someone will need to correct me here, but I'm 99% sure that burmese pythons and dwarf burms have different scientific names (dwarves are a locale) Depending on how the laws are written you may be legally able to get a dwarf Burmese python.

hmm ill have to look into that. although what i love most about the burm is its size :D

You could always get a dwarf and powerfeed it :P I dont generally endorse power feeding but I have a few friends who got dwarf and sd retics to huge sizes be feeding bigger prey

dwarf burms are Python bivittatus progschai or python molurus bivittatus progschai depending on who you ask. Mainlands are Python bivittatus bivittatus or Python molurus bivittatus.

If you want a dwarf you had better hurry, despite the fact that its not actually a law yet many people are going to stop shipping burms on March 23rd in the states. Although export is still legal for you people up north. I don't know if there are any available in Canada.
