Hi everyone, I am very interested in egg eating snakes but I cannot find anyone who carries quail and/or finch eggs.
Does anyone know where I could find them?
I would just breed birds but besides the fact that birds take up alot of room and I have a cat, I am allergic to birds. :p

Any opinions on what I should do? Whom I should contact?
Do the eggs have to be fertile?
I heard that I could use regualr grocery store bought eggs when the snakes are large enough to eat them. Whether this is true I don't really know.

Anyone who could shed some light on my situation would be greatly appreciated.

You can buy quail eggs at specialty food stores cause they are considered a delicacy (eewww .. each to his own) but because of that they are expensive.

I would try going into a pet shop that sells them and either checking to see if they have any, or if they will let you put up a flyer asking their other customers for some. I have finches and I know that getting rid of unwanted eggs is a full time job.
They are busy little guys:D

Glad to see someone else is on the same thought. We have heard that feeding quail eggs to the beardies is good protein but found that its really hard to find stores that carry them. I have found only one place that carries these "delicacy" eggs and am getting ahold of the company to see if we are able to buy large quanities. I'll keep you informed on what goes on to see if everything works out or even at all.

You could try a farmers market. There is one by me and i know they sell quail and chcikens all the time so the probubly sell eggs 2 and at cheap prices.

If you are not able to find a store that sells the eggs, let me know and I'll have them at the next show for sure. I have gotten hold of the place that sells quail eggs but they only deal with big orders so I'll plan on bringing lots and hopefully I'll have a reasonable price too.
