What has two thumbs, and will have 2.4 BRB's and possibly 1.2 (1.1 for sure. Haven't chosen the second Dam)Madagascan Ground Boas within the next 14 days, weather permitting? *Points to self* THIS GUY! Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to..... (Oh crap! They need names!)

The floor is now open.

Wow, they are beautiful! Especially the coloring on the second!

I can't help you with names though, sorry...my snake's name is merely for the sake of the vet. It's an upside to having a virtually deaf pet :P

You all know how long I've waited to own these guys (See Acrantophis Madagascarensis post) I think I spelled it wrong. I have to find that BRB post where I brainstormed all those names! Romeo and Juliet maybe?

Oh man, they're beautiful! I love them!

Strutter769
02-28-12, 10:22 PM
Sampson and Delilah? No, my mom's oldest offspring used those names for her dogs. Scratch that. Maybe THIS is Spartacus! No, that's gonna be the male BRB. HMMMMM.... Ok, now I'm not gonna be able to sleep!

How about Jack and Jill? No, sorry. Just thinking out loud. Oh wait, not really "out loud" when I'm typing, now is it?

I've never been really impressed with MGBs...

UNTIL NOW! Those things look sweet!

Thanks! I should've asked their age. I'll ask when I order them Friday.

Funny you mention that. I'd honestly never been big on BRB's. Now look at me! Can you say "Addict?" Lol

I feel another addiction coming on!

In just four short years, you'll see these on the market just a little more. :D

She and Him. Lol.

Strutter769
02-28-12, 10:51 PM
BB, you gave me an idea. The languages of Madagascar are French and Malagasy.

Google Translate doesn't have "Malagasy." So, maybe great French names?! Oui

In French, "Him" is "Lui." I like it!

"Her" - "Son." Not so much.... lol

BarelyBreathing
02-28-12, 11:59 PM
That's awesome! Except Son. That's not so awesome.

I love dumerils boas. They're so sweet and very well mannered. :D

Congrats!

I have no suggestions for names. I have enough problems naming my own. I have 3 that are still nameless :(

Yeah, Madagascans are from the part of the island that's a bit more arid. Husbandry seems on a beginner level, honestly. Known to be extremely tame when CBB.

I have two that are of unknown age as they were rescued and I adopted them shortly after (the guy who rescued them couldn't keep them permanently). Both are close to 5ft long so I'm guessing 3-4 years old...maybe a little more.

While both are extremely tame, one is very shy while the other is more curious, but both are pretty much lap snakes. Both prefer the cooler side of their tubs than the hot side and husbandry is pretty basic with these guys. They're very hardy animals.

You should have tons of fun with yours!

Edit: I forgot to add that they do have a pretty high feed mode. Last time I fed them, one of my girls snatched her food (large rat) off my tongs so quick and hard, I was left with a tail on my tongs...she ripped the tail right out of the body! O.O

Rogue, you have two MGB's or Dumeril's? Thanks, I cannot WAIT til these future lovebirds arrive.

Oh, and if your answer is 2 MGB's, we're gonna need some pics. Ya know, as proof!

Eh, I think they're just normal dumerils.

Now that I went back and looked at your pics, I realized yours are a bit different coloring but pretty much the same pattern. Pretty cool that they look that similar but are completely different animals.

Strutter769
02-29-12, 12:37 AM
Agreed. And the husbandry is a bit different, no? Dum's require more humidity, not sure about differences in temps.

Not sure many buyers would be interested in a Ren x Stumpy line! Lol

No stumpy wouldn't be good. It all depends in how you want to come across. Me life is to short to take it serious so have fun with it. People will buy because the animal's looks and genetic potential. Not it's parents names. People will also buy based on the seller which is a big thing sellers tend to forget these days. I guarantee that if you go to the next expo and observe some vendors that you will notice that the vendors with a pleasant personality will sell slightly inferior snakes for a better price and sell more in overall volume than a vendor that is coarse or abrasive. People buy from those they like and those that make them feel comfortable.

Great advice, Kevin, thanks! Having spent my entire career in Customer Service, mostly dealing with really angry people, I look forward to being behind a table at an expo, big smoke on my face, knowing I've got some of the best (and if all goes well), some of the least common animals at the show. When you believe you offer the best there is, the rest is simple. Everything just kinda falls into place!

So, I found out today, these guys are about 8 months old. Oddly enough, so are my current BRB's. Not sure the age of the BRB's coming in a week or so, but it seems everyone may mature right around the same time. Looks like the rack will be a rockin' then, three pair at a time! Lol

It's a great day to be me! Finished paying for the Bullseye BRB'S tl make some Pearls, ordered and paid for the pair above, any his dark girl. Hoping to breed some of that black out. Not sure how though. They'll be here tomorrow!

Really? I kinda prefer that beautiful pattern to continue all the way down, but that's what makes her unique!

Just line breed her. Take the blackest male and breed him back to her, and just keep taking the blackest offspring and breed them out.

Cuz THAT didn't sound racist...

But that's breeding the black "in" isn't it? I want to breed out the black.

And this is post 1,000! Woo hoo!

I thought that. I'm really only comfortable doing that once (F1). Then, with the proceeds from that litter, I'd have enough to add another breeder or two to keep the bloodlines fresh.
