I am new to snakes & new to this forum. I currently have three, all of them caught on my property. I live semi-rural & have plenty of brush & cover on my property. I currently have two baby rat snakes & one ribbon snake.

You're allowed to just catch and keep over there? Welcome by the way.

Thanks, I am looking forward to learning lots about these fascinating creatures! I am currently cohabitating these guys & from what I undertand that's a bad idea so I am working to remedy that. They appear to get along fine, no obvious issues but if its a bad idea I will rectify that. I started with one small baby rat, added a ribbon snake & recently introduced a 2nd rat. They all eat fine, I feed the rats pinkies & the ribbon snake loves minnows that I trap from a local ditch. The rat on the right is the one I found a few weeks ago.

Wow those Rat snakes look a lot like Corns; the similar arrow pattern on top of the head. Nice to see docile WC snakes; not something usually seen. :)

Here are some other snakes that I have found on my property. I relocated 2 of them but wish I had left the rat here as I have several barns & bet it was doing a great job of what its supposed to do...
The two pics in the upper left corner are of a yellow bellied Texas water snake. It got into my pond that was loaded with goldfish & other tropical fish. "Living in the buffet" so to speak so we managed to fish him out with a large net (that's him in the trash can) & relocated him to a pond down the road. The one by the tree is about a 4' rat snake. It was relocated as well mainly to alleviate fear from my wife & grandkids but that's the one I wish I'd kept here. The upper right is what I believe to be a green racer, this snake could move! There was no catching it, I cornered it a couple of times to get some pictues & then off it went. Bottom left is a brown earth snake. Let me say right up front that I know nothing about these & they may be ID'ed wrong, I've gotten my info from other folks that claim to know or what I can find on the internet. Please chime in if you know any of this to be incorrect!

I love the freedom you have down there when it comes to these things. Here in Iowa, we cant keep native snakes like Brown snakes and Hognoses. Oh well. I have enough snakes anyway.
