View Full Version : Some Frost pictures
A couple pics of my male snow boa Frost.
He just shed this morning as well.Almost glowing:D
Quite the difference between flash and natural light..
he looks fantastic in natural light, that is one beautiful snake. Thanks for sharing :-)

I love snow boa's.. they really are quite gorgeous..
Depends how much you think expensive is.
I really cant find them for sale anywhere, lol..
I dunno, I could probably justify anything up to a few thousand, considering any snake purchase will end up costing a few thousand anyway once you factor in housing, feeding, etc etc!

They go for about a thousand up here.
You could justify a few thousand..damn.I wish I could go that high..
Anything over a grand a little voice chimes in and goes it's a snake! Give your head a shake and than the EVIL little voice goes my pretties:wacky:

Well, look at what it'll cost you to feed one snake over its life (just estimating.. 20 years) if it remains perfectly healthy w/ no vet issues etc..
I can get adult feeder mice for ~$1.50 each, not sure on rates elsewhere.. but
$1.50 per mouse per week x 52 x 20 years = $1560
so you're already at a $1560.
add in a decent cage and bedding for 20 years.. probably around $500 there
then electric bill - lets say 25 watts for a heat mat, it runs even half the time for a month thats ~$2 a month x 12 x 20 = $480 over 20 years
cleaning supplies etc etc not included**
so include substrate etc etc thats like $3000 really approximated to keep a decent sized snake for its life time, so for me, I wanted a BRB, so i just put down $175 on one including shipping (wont be here till it warms up though..), seemed not that bad, but in reality I'm "committing" to ~$3000 or so over the next 20 years!
---
that said cost is also relative, I'd rather spend $5000 on a $2000 snake +"living costs" over 20 years than spend $5000 on gas when I could have just rid my bike on all those short trips, which I try to do as much as possible now a days, i save a ton on gas that way!
i ride my bike about 30 miles per week, (10-15 in the winter, 40-50 or so in the not cold times) which is about a gallon and a half of gas on short trip mileage in my car.. thats $3.50x1.5 = $5.25 a week x 52 x 20 = $5460 assuming (HAH!) that gas wont go up in the next 20 years..
*cough* rant.. sorry!
Yes,but the money pool is alot larger over twenty period versus right at the moment of purchase. One could buy a snake and pay for it over twenty years[silly idea]A thousand would be nothing to drop on a snake over that period of time. ;)
Wow he is absolutely gorgeous.... :D

Which is why I only make purchased with cash I have on hand, then I don't get "behind" on things or in any CC problems. I didn't buy a car for a few years and used all my saved money to buy and pay off a car within 6 months of getting it (paid about 3/4 the car in a down payment)
Its no more or less money over 20 years, that's still the same amount of work you'd have to put in in order to bring in that much money, no matter when you earn it.
I only work about 4-5 hours a week right now (full time student!).. but i make $50/hr after taxes/etc or so, so once i can work full time that'll shoot up to a lot more hopefully!
I'm a patient person, I'd be willing to wait a few years to save up the money to buy the snake rather than "settling" on a cheaper snake and having it cost almost as much in the long run, and not liking the looks of it as much. Same reason I saved up to buy a nicer car (lots of car pooling!) rather than buy a $2000 junker id spend almost as much money in the long run fixing/keeping going rather than waiting a bit and getting what I have now. I delayed going to college a year so that i could work full time as a personal trainer and save up some money while still living at my parents house, I basically used it all to buy a car, pay it off, and move up to near campus/have money saved up just in case

I really cant find them for sale anywhere, lol..
being double recessive morphs,it takes a fair bit of breeding to produce these beauty's
they are produced from.....
breeding an albino,to an anerythristic boa,to produce double hets for snow
crossing the double hets back to each other, gives you a ONE in SIXTEEN chance of, producing a snow boa in the litter
imo, this is why you can't find many for sale mate;)
cheers shaun
I love the last picture, he looks so regal :P

I have a dh sunglow that I am thinking of trying with him..i have a couple other females I am thinking about.
I usally only breed once or twice a year. Its more of hobby than a money making idea...if it pays for everybodys food I am happy.
I have to say I am stoked for this up coming season:D
Thanks for the kind words everybody!

That could be the best looking boa I've seen. I love how the eyes work so well with the body color.
Do these tend to be pricey?

They do tend to be a little pricey..around $1000 up here.
OMG, he is amazing! I love the last set of pictures outside the best. He's eyes are amazing and I love the faint stripe behind his eye. Trent, your snakes are gorgeous!!!

I know! The price is what stopped me from getting one already, but it's definitely on my want list. Gotta get my albino purple retic first before can really think about purchasing more animals.
I'm definitely a fan of Frost. He is one of the best examples I've seen and definitely my favorite boa morph!
Could you please post more pics of him for us to drool over? :D

That snake is just stunning.... That is a white snake I would love to have! And that's saying something, because I prefer low-whites or no-whites!
Best all white snake ive ever seen! I love the head shot
The head shot is sick. FPS games everywhere are taking notes. A lot of people think white snakes are boring. I don't, looks like there is some yellow in there as well. The eyes look like granite, really cool.

Trent, what are you planning on breeding him to?
The more I see pics of Frost, the more I like him better than any snow! The boyfriend originally wanted a snow (his dream snake) but I think Frost has changed his mind! Too bad we're in the US. If you're trying to make mini-Frost babies, I'd love to have one, even if I had to make a payment plan! lol :D

Thanks Rogue....your boyfriend should get one!
I am on the fence on who to breed him to either double het sunglow or straight hypo and produce some triple het moonglow babies!
Wont be making mini Frosts for a couple of years.;)
Thanks everybody he does like to show off when he is outside!
