I bought this girl as a 75% diamond jungle x coastal jag, I was told she was a jag but I'm guessing a sib. I was pretty disappointed when I got her, for not looking like a typical jag, I made the mistake of not asking for pics when I did but I'm starting to change my mind. Shes only on her third shed since I got her and she was a tiny drab brown hatchling when I did. I'm so happy with her now that I had to buy a new camera since my old one sucked. Enjoy the pics.

When I got her I called the seller and he told me it was in the head pattern that you could tell she was a jag, I'm open for anyones opinion on what they think, though it doesn't really matter since I have a male jag from will learys super tiger x irian jaya clutch for her when the time comes. Atleast I hope she's a she, if she's not a jag then I'm not going to be very confident the sex is accurate either. If she turns out to be a male then I will be mad

Nice carpet but I don't think she's a jag, doesn't have the nice reduced pattern jags have, most likely a sibling.

Keep in mind I'm new to the world of morelia so I could be wrong.

Yeah I have seen jags that didn't have that reduced pattern or broken stripes going down the back so I'm not sure what exactly makes a jag a jag, though I'll have to wait for hopefully some experts to chime in, I posted in other forums that focus on carpets so I'll waiting to hear on those as well.

Definitely not a Jag mate but a Jag sibling... still a great looking carpet you have there though.

That thing is one of the most wicked Carpets I've seen yet. Honest. People will call me crazy, but thats a jag. One the most heavily banded jags I've ever seen. The fact that it looks like a sib is that much cooler too, because I think most sibs look way better then their jag counterparts, generally there's only a couple stunner jags per clutch, but every sib looks awesome. I'd say you got one of the stunner jags though, congrats!

Thanks caylan, the one thing that makes me think it could be a jag is the head pattern having that "sea turtle" look to it which I see in yours and I have seen in other obvious jags. Sibs I have seen the feet of the turtle are connected to the pattern past the head.
I guess one sure way I will eventually find out is when I breed her to a jag and see if I get any lucys.

so you want dead snakes? Jag x jag and jag x jag sib are killer combos, don't waste your time, money, or any animals' lives.

edit: aside from that minor tirade, you've got a very pretty carpet, jag or sib. (I presonally think Jag, but I'm in the same boat as Eli, still a noobie in the morelia world.)

I don't want dead snakes but whether she is a jag or sib I have a jag lined up for her in the future, unless those plans change.

don't, all offspring to date of those pairings die.

No not all, with jag to jag by odds 25% of the clutch will be lusistic, the lusistic form of jags don't survive the egg, rarely they do and die soon after hatching. Another 25% will be sibs and the rest will be jags. this is caused by the nurological defect in the jag genes.

millertime89

huh... never heard that ANY of them survive, leucistic or otherwise.

well I'll be, just got a PM, never seen or heard of that before, guess it can be done, lets see if the little bugger survives.

Learn something new every day :) If I do breed a jag to her and get lucys, no ifs and or buts they will die, as far as the rest they have just as good a chance if they were any snake. That's the unfortunate price of breeding jag to jag.

I'm not sure what I'm going to pair her up with now, I wasn't expecting her to turn out how she is, though there's still a lot of changing for her to do so I'll just have to see how she turns out in the next year before deciding.

It turns out its not 100%, I was sent a link with a "leucistic" carpet (didn't quite look leucistic) that was surviving, but it had neuro issues. That's not something I would want in any snakes I produce.
