Hello, I'm new here!
Here's my "background" of getting into reptiles.
When I was a child, I used to catch frogs and garter snakes whenever I saw them. Growing up on a beach though, there was more sand and seagulls than reptiles. The most I ever did before moving out was I would rescue sea turtles every summer.
Anyway! So, obviously, I asked my parents if I could get a snake (they've always fascinated me the most) and, them being from the city (Boston) Snakes were "icky" and that was a no. We had a dog and "that was enough pets" :hmm:
I finally moved out, and got situated at college. Obviously, no pets allowed in the dorms. So three years later, I've been more focused on graduating than happiness (go figure). My girlfriend and I decided to get out lives going despite how stressful college has been, and we moved off campus into an apartment. A few months ago, we went down to visit my friend in Manchester, and he brought us over to his new girlfriends house. She had a HUGE tegu cage and an awesome tegu named critter.
I started asking her about the tegu cause I had basically given up on getting a reptile since it had been so long since i'd thought about it. She mentioned that there was a reptile expo that weekend (what luck!) and so we went. I ended up meeting Nate Godin after seeing his black milksnake which just fascinated me. I ended up getting one from him, and now have a nice 5 month old black milksnake as my first reptile ever!
Well, I'm sure that was pretty long-winded compared to most intro posts, but that's how I ended up here, as I take anything I do really seriously and want to provide the best husbandry I possibly can for my pet (and hopefully pets in the future!)
