Hey Yep turn`s out i can`t change the tittle now that i have misspelled palace....Haha

so i bet you are wondering what the hell ragsquito is .
Well ragsquito is a garter snake i obtained over a year ago on camping trip.
I caught him with a friend of mine both very new to snake`s.
I decided that i would keep him because i had plenty of room

As time went on i got more into keeping snake`s because of this guy.
and i moved on to bigger thing`s . But everytime my buddy came over
he was alway`s very interested in ragsquito so eventully i said he could have the entire setup for free aslong as he took very good care of him.

well that was about 4 month`s ago and my friend is moving and asked if
i would like him back.

So i have decided to use my 55 gallon for him.
And builld him somthing cool.
The tank will be 2/3 land 1/3 water. And include a waterfall ill make from my old canister filter.

By the way i would never keep a wildcaught snake again and wouldn`t really recomend it. But i am unsure of releasing him since he has been captive for 1 year.So thought id give him his own palace.

Anythought`s and suggestion`s?

As for pic`s i have to find some of him but he is a yellow and black garter.
and here is a crappy drawing i made.

Quie elaborate.. Will love to see the finished product.

Garters love to swim, so the water features is great, except he will poop in that water, the concept you have looks like it will be tough to change the water when it's got garter goo in it.

Oh, I fixed the title.

Looks cool, how's his temper as a w/c?

May I interject here?

Most of my WC garters behave better than my morphs do.

Once they get settled in, wild garter snakes make awesome captives.

Very true infernalis! i almost forgot how often his waterbowl turned into a toilet!
and thank you for changing the tittle!

ok now i will have to rethink this a little haha.
his temperment is good he has never really bitten and if he does you can`t really feel it much and as for the musk if held about ounce a week
he would never musk.

i really wanted to intergrate the water because i know how much he love`s to swim and hunt fish. But now i will have to figure out something.
i know i can probly vacume it out like i do with the aquarium now.
but would probly be hard to keep clean 24/7 but maybe the canister filter would clear it up fast? it is the size of a garbage can

I just use large things for water bowls..

put something like this in there. That's what I am using in my Monitor cage.

Exactly, just lift it out and wash it, put it back in.

Maybe provide a smaller dish or bowl for water that's small enough he won't swim in but can drink from?

Not to rain on your parade but I know here in Ontario, not sure if it's country wide or Provincial only, but you generally can't keep native reptiles without a permit. You might want to check to ensure you're within local bylaws and the such.

Why would anyone want to deprive a semi aquatic species a swim?
