Ok, I've never done a "profile" before, so I figure my first should be about MY first, Lucy.

Lucy is a '96 (possible, '95) BCI, purchased from a pet store in Hanover Park, IL. Of course, being my first snake, I assumed she was a "Red-Tail" because of course that's how she was marketed.I also spent the very first month's rent, for my very first apartment to buy her, and a 20L, a carpet as flooring, a light, hood, you know the drill.

Now, she's got the giant condo you've seen pics of in the past. Ok, here she is!

I just realized how crappy these pictures are. No wonder the call it a wireless phone WITH a camera, not the other way around. Sorry.

I just wanted to introduce her properly. You couldn't ask for a friendlier snake. She's recovering from a CHE burn (Bad, bad snake owner!! *slaps both hands*). I think it'll be gone in one more shed. She was really dark tonight too.

Anyway, I'm bringing her with us to the Expo promoting Snake Awareness Day, signing a petition for the Illinois ban, etc. Can't wait to show her to the kids at the party this summer (and any before then).

She looks like she's a real sweetheart :) I can't even see any evidence of a burn in those pics...

She is the best. That's about ALL you can see in any of those photos.

Oh I have a story now. It was maybe 6-8 months after I bought Lucy, one hot summer day she and I were sitting out in the yard of this (not very nice) apartment complex where we lived, buside a quite busy state route. She was out inspecting the area, head up above the rather tall grass. She never really meandered off very far. I remember being very cautious, cuz she could slither away pretty quickly, and, well, I don't do ANYTHING quickly. Anyway, she was about 8-10 feet (3 meters Swany) when she saw a squirrel! Now, Lucy's no fatter than an average candy bar, and with her head away up, pointed at the now frozen squirrel, she froze, I froze, thinking "If she takes off after this damn thing, she's gone!

Nope!! After thinking about it for about 3.5 seconds, put her head down and RACED back to where I was sitting (still completely motionless) and curled herself into the shade made by my knees that were up, as my feet were flat, forming a triangle. "Save me,Dad! That's the hu-uugest rat I've EVER seen!!" Lol

I BS you not, a truer story has never been told!

Anyone else have an experience where you'd "swear" your snake had done somethin' "lovingly" like that?

Wow! She's nice!

My last BCI hated being outside. Everytime I'd take her out and put her in the grass, she'd crawl up on me as if a child would do when scared. I'm not sure if it was the grass or what, but I could put her down and go several feet away from her and she'd crawl towards me and climb right on me.

Here's a pic of her coming toward me after setting her down and moving away from her. That's about the only way I could ever get a picture of her in the grass lol

Thats a very nice looking boa you have there Strutter. '96? I know snakes live over 20 years but to actually see one thats 16... That makes that fact even more real for me since my oldest snakes are only 10 and most of them are juveniles.
