I obviously photo shopped this, but what do you all think, I found both Linoleum and Tiles with stone patterning.
I tried to sand off the "Deaf Child Area" sign, but it didn't really work too well, I like the shiny aluminum look, but what about stone?

I like it. Would you cover all of it like that? or just the part where the deaf child area sign is?

I was thinking all exposed aluminum and that hideous orange..

Can you find something that has a grassy pattern instead? it's kind of weird to see stones on the walls...?

Hmmmm. I don't know ...... it would definitely look better.

I like Alessia's idea of seeing if there is a grassy pattern, or maybe even tile that has a worn, cracked look to it. Without actual cracks, of course:)

Personally, I think the stone is rather sweet.

Im with the other people who suggested a grassy look or you could get ones custom made to look like australia

The sky idea would be a flop, I already coated all the upper surfaces with expensive sealer. and since linolium is a flooring, there is no such thing as sky or forest.
It's only going to be the very low to the ground areas, most of it would be obscured by substrate, so honestly the stone look fits the plan better.
There are many patterns.. Brick, Stacked stone foundation, pebbles, cobblestone, etc..

For custom printing I am sure there is a minimum order, and I would be willing to bet that the minimum order will be a whole lot bigger than a yard or two of material.
With stock patterns, I can buy scraps cheap.

I like that one too. Looks like it's in a basement in an old English home! (Cuz i know what that looks like...sure...lol)
I'd just worry about putting up something like that and making a good seal, so no bactera or mold can grow behind it. Sometimes sprucing up a tank can cause more problems...but as long as you've got that all worked out, go for it! Littlefoot probably won't care one whit, but it'll be nice to look at for you guys!
I prefer no linoleum... won't his claws be all over that anyway as an adult? I dunno, I like the basic aluminum look myself. Lino patterns look tacky on the walls of a cage...

I'd disagreed. I found the basic aluminum look to give the cage the "charming" appearance of a cargo container. I agree with the many who chose #3.
My vote is for #3 as well. I love the look of moss rock, flag stone, cobble stone etc.

good idea wayne!
i'd go with 1, then 3 as the second choice. Brick is far from natural looking, and just not appropriate for a monitor cage imo.

Not really, Since the eggs are imported from Africa, the breeding season over there is in November and December, the eggs hatch beginning in late February into March and even early April.

Linoleum is smooth, the pebble look is a printed pattern.

you can get a ton of pebbles and hot glue gun and start gluing them to the walls :P

Why don't you use spray adhesive and regular sand? Give it a sand stone look.
I love linoleum. I would go with what ever one you like since you will be the one who has to live with it.
I use this pattern, its floor panel.

Jay what lucky animal lives in that fantastic enclosure?
I had my Diamond Jungle in it for a while now, I just moved him into a 5x3x3. Right now I have a young rescue Iguana in it now.

I am not keen on gluing anything loose to the walls, it can eventually fall free.
Something new I bet you never knew.
A monitor has no taste buds, their feeding response is scent based, so ANYTHING that a slug or snail has crawled on, leaving a slime trail will be eaten.
I watched Chomper try and eat plastic and cardboard off the ground, I never understood why he would do that, Now I know.. It is the scent trail left behind by slugs crawling on it.
So let's just say I glue a bunch of pebbles to the wall, and a slug crawls on them, then said pebble falls into the enclosure, now Littlefoot is eating pebbles.
No thanks, I will pass.

Ohh yeah that would be a huge issue!
infernalis
02-12-12, 02:11 PM
I remember once I had to take a hunk of plastic away from Chomper as he was trying to eat it.
Just envision taking a deer leg away from a dog once the dog has it in it's mouth.
Scary and not fun.
Taking food from a monitor... Not fun
I once had chomper out and he found my dogs food dish after 1 or 2 bites he gave up anyways.

Reproduction occurs during November and December during the hot, dry season and eggs hatch at the beginning of the rainy season of March and April (Personal observation)

I hate being patient. I am such a child of the instant gratification era. You are doing the right thing though...I'll try to curb my impatience as well ;)
So...in the interest of study and curiosity....why only one? Tell me, how do they do in pairs?

A pair would get along, But that cage is set up for a single Sav.
Secondly, no chance of accidental breeding with only one.
i'd go with number 3 on that.
