Darn godaddy and their domain sales.. Gets me every time.

Couldn't pass up Varanus dot US for $3

Not sure what to do with it, Probably just a big photo gallery site with links back to this forum.

So all you camera happy monitor owners, take some pics and give me permission to publish them.

Maybe we could find some accurate care sheets. wouldn't that be nice!

you can document LFs development

Wouldn't that fit better on savannahmonitor dot CO, I own that one too.

Dunno I guess its up to you but I think a site that documents all the preparations for his enclosure and tips for new owners and then updates on how he is thriving and the different adjustments to his environment would be extremely helpful to those interested in getting involved with the species

Right, since that data would be Sav specific.. then sav .co it will be.

I want to do more variety with Varanus.us Like catalog the good youtube videos.

Multi species photo galleries and such.

Well I needed it like another hole in my head, stinking godaddy is like a drug pusher, they know who's addicted to web sites, and flash these killer deals..

"wanna buy a domain? act now it's only $3" buy buy buy.........

One suggestion would be species specific DETAILED caresheets.
I know I have a hard time finding anything but very basic caresheets for my BTM.
Maybe even have some of the more experienced keepers around write some up (if they have the time that is)

infernalis

Perfect.. I like that.

I'm sure that some of them would be happy to help.

I've got a few care sheets on my other computer to be published on Bamboo Zoo. I'll tweak them a bit and you can have them. By the way, if you see any picture I've posted of my monitors, feel free to use them. Just let me know which they are. As long as you give me credit somewhere (BarelyBreathing is fine), I'm happy.

I think its reallly a cool use of the domain. Are you going to list all the species on the left side of the homepage?

something that nobody ever seems to point out to People is that Savanah monitors are not legal in every state a piece of info that I had no idea of.. New hampshire allows them but the State next door Maine does not, so if You are in New Hampshire and wanted to buy one you could then You drive back to Maine not knowing and bingo You own a Lizard that is going to get really big and could possibly get taken from you

I don't know how I would react if someone took my lizard away.

Maine is very picky they also dont allow koi they actually raided a chinese restaurant and took them out of the guys golfish tank but after like a year of fighting he won and got them back he had to get them micro chipped and when they die he has to contact them. Oh and no iguanas either

infernalis

Where I live they do not allow Nile Monitors.

BarelyBreathing

I also believe Delaware doesn't allow monitors. I can double check my sources on that, though. Hail3gh, that was a great point to bring up!

Maybe I need to come up with a page of state laws.

YES! and maybe for all different types of reptiles? You could list the states then next to them write a short paragraph about what is legal-illegal et cetera

Since it is a monitor site, the only animals will be genus Varanus. (Monitor Lizards)

It is nice to see links going up already.. so that data is being referenced.

I am doing a workup right now on Light bulb selection for optimal basking without drying the air.

It was proposed to me tonight the idea of beginning a monitor only forum on the site, by my friend and the owner of this site Jason, and I have to say I like the idea.

I already own a license to use the software, and I have a server to run it on.

The best care sheet ever written is The Savannah Monitor, Varanus exanthematicus (http://Savannahmonitor.org) and Bill is a member here, I heavily promote his site.

For Savs, I only wish to suppliment his site, not compete against it.
