So My hubby and I are thinking about getting our male salmon a girlie friend. Im thinking an albino or if Im lucky I have found a fairly cheap gorgeous snow available. Unfortunately its already on hold for someone else and probably not very likely I will get her but if they flake (and I hope they do) Im jumping on her! I have looked everywhere I can think of but cannot find anything other than 2011 albinos. Our male wont be ready to breed for another year so theres no rush but I would like to get something in his size range, he is about 3'. Would any of you like to suggest somewhere I havent thought of?
Also I was wondering cause you guys are all so great here what the babies might turn out like with an albino or snow bred with a salmon?
Thanks for any and all help in advance :)
If you breed him to a albino you will get 50% het albinos and 50% het sunglows.Breed him to a snow and you get 50% het for snow and 50% hypo het snow. Those are both good choices.Unless you go with a motley or arabesque both are dom traits and kinda cool looking.

So there would be no albinos or snows just the hets?

Get a sunglow, or a pattern, like the aformentioned arabesque or motley. :D

Well I got a double het sunglow in the end for him she is very pretty almost the same colors as the salmon, with some attitude as well. She bit me 5 times today in the matter of a few seconds. Shes not very large and breeding will be put on the back burner for her.
Im guessing that the salmon will nix out the sunglow though. Anyone know if I'm right on that? Its no big deal one way or the other since they have great color and Im sure they will have gorgeous babies with or without the double het sunglow coming out.

Gotta clarify this a bit.
If you breed a salmon to an albino all the babies will be 100% het albino and half of them will also be salmon. So half of the litter will be normals het albino and half will be salmon het albino. Salmon het albinos have the ability to produce sunglows when bred to an albino or het albino.
If bred to a snow you will get normals that are 100% het albino and 100% het anery (het snow). You will also get salmons that are 100% het albino and 100% het anery which would be considered het moonglow.

Is the dh sunglow a hypo or a salmon? Regardless you will not produce any sunglows. I am not sure if half will be het albino or if it will be only a quarter. I am terrible with hets. I am thinking only a quarter will be het albino.

Hypo and salmon are the same thing.Breakdown would be 50% super hypo,25%hypo,and 25% het albino.

Actually hypo and salmon are very similar but not all hypos are salmon. While all salmon are hypo. Their is a coloration difference between salmons and hypos. I am wondering if there is a difference in sunglows produced from salmons compared to sunglows produced from hypos? I assume that sunglows produced from hypos will have a richer color.
What other line of hypo is there separate form salmon other then orange tail hypo? Is their a new recessive/codom hypo I missed? So you could have a super salmon + hypo gene theoretically(regardless of dom, codom, or rec)? Or double super hypo ie super salmon super hypo? I'm not really on board with boa genetics lately, still prefer localities... Caylan.S.

Honestly I am not sure about the whole salmon hypo thing myself but I asked the question and people straightened my out. I don't know what you get when you breed a hypo to a salmon. Wish I did though. I am pretty sure the salmon gene is different freon the hypo gene but I honestly don't know.

The salmon gene is different than hypo?? Really?
As far as I recall hypos were called salmon in the past, but the correct term is hypo.
If there is a salmon morph..would love to see the difference between the two.;)

I re read this (http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/boa-constrictor/89943-hypo-salmon.html) and the difference seems to be line breeding.
So what I get from that is hypo and salmon can't be told apart except by a breeder.
Sounds like BS to me.A way for people to get ripped off.Line breeding a hypo so there is no black sounds like a super form of hypo.Which you get a % of when you breed hypo to hypo.
