When ladybugs start popping up again, I want to try catching some, and keeping them in captivity... Only they are aphid eaters, and I do not know if I can get a steady supply of them :(
So I am wondering if fruit flies would work, and if they'd eat them.
Anyoen have any other tips? I am curious...

No idea about the flies. Aphids are quite common though. Check those thorny things with the spikey purple flowers (i know not very good description), in my back yard the come in the millions. Also i found that roses seemed to have a fair bit.

If your looking for new places try the observatory in september, thousands of ladybugs just sitting on the building. Very strange!

Buy yourself some petunias come spring, they're an annual, so they sell for really cheap at garden centres...and then leave them outside for a while, I guarantee you'll have aphids on it....I have yet to see a petunia outdoors that didn't have aphids...and we're talking a LOT of aphids, too.

Plant dill. It'll be covered with aphids.
