Hey there,

Can you get pics for us.... It's possible that it's "flushed" from the scale infection.

pictures will help us mate

it could be as red ink said

the only time i've seen a pink tinge to a snake was with a burn, the snake had trailed itself through its water bowl, then sat on its heat mat causing the water to heat and burn the snake

was the scale infection on the belly area ?

cheers shaun

i really wish i could show you but my only camera access wont show it up. i think im going to drop her by the vet soon. and yes the infection was on her stomach but the redness is quite expansive... im begining to wonder if it is a burn. we just moved her out of a temporary rubbermaid tub and into a homemade large vivarium.

if its a burn the effected scales will start to have a dried up look to them

the most effected of them will start to turn a brown colour

some blood may appear, like when you graze your skin,it may also weep a clear fluid

if this is the case.....

just keep an eye on it and keep it clean

if there are raw looking parts, then dab with a dilluted iodine soulution twice daily

get rid of the substrate until healed, use white paper towelling if possible

also remove everything but the water bowl and its favorite hide.this will stop the damaged scales scabs getting caught on things

please let us know how it goes mate

all the best shaun

The silver sulfadiazine will prevent infection, speed healing, and also prevent scarring. It's wonderful stuff, but I didn't even consider it could be used on snakes. Very cool! Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your scaly baby!

sometimes it looks worse before it gets better,so try not to worry too much

keep an eye out for infection,it manifests itself in same way as it would in a human.a redness around the effected area, that will start to creep out and get bigger/cover more area

if it stays clean then.....

the effected area will turn light to dark brown, depending on how burnt the particular area may be.....

it will have a very dry appearance, and wrinkle up to have a scab like appearance

don't worry if these scabs get knocked off and show a little raw area, with signs of blood (like when you graze a knee)

the cream you have is an antisceptic ?

if so that should keep it clean and healthy

2 or 3 sheds from now you most likely will not notice where the burn was

lets us know how it goes mate

all the best shaun
