New thread - the last one was getting a little long. Skyler is a 4 1/2 year-old Epicrates cenchria crassus and her new outfit is about 20 minutes old. Enjoy :)

Okay, I didn't want to say Brazilian Rainbow Boa because I knew I would probably be wrong about the Brazilian part.

I've had to tell them that you like them all equally so as not to hurt anyone's feelings, so this'll be our little secret :)

They both have their merits and they'll both look very similar once Tagz matures. As much as I've grown to like Skyler's racing stripe, Tagz is going to look really nice without that feature - he's a perfectly clean Columbian so it'll make for good contrast and easy identification between them :)

To be honest, I haven't sexed either of them yet, lol. When I was asked if I'd take-over Skyler, I didn't have any other Rainbows at the time, so what sex it was didn't matter and I never bothered.

Tagz was just a fluke - someone dropped-off 5 babies at a local rescue and I got a call asking if I'd take some. I said 'Sure, bring me one' and since it was a different subspecies from Skyler, I didn't sex it either.

Now that Tagz is maturing and it's clear that it's a pure Columbian, I will consider breeding them (if they are opposite sexes) since they 2 subspecies are so closely related, but I'd really rather find another crassus to mate with Skyler the 1 time that I'd like to breed them. Failing finding another crassus, which would be a trick and a half, I'll give it some serious consideration when the times comes.

I had a serious talk with Skyler and said you were waiting impatiently for the shed, so I watched a movie and voila - it was done by the end of the flick. You owe Skyler one now for putting such a rush on that just for you, Alessia :)

Skyler is a beaut as always, Todd. Nice of him (?) to change clothes on demand. And none of you lot even bought her (?) dinner. ;-)

I'd avoid crossbreeding them. Columbians may be common, but crassus are not. It'd be nice to keep that pure. Plus, while I know you are a gentleman of your word and would of course disclose any mixed parentage, not all of the youngsters' owners might be...resulting in polluted genetics down the stream.

And finally, LOL on the poor dog, wondering why the snakes keep getting all the camera love. ;-)

When it comes to whether or not Skyler will reproduce, it's a question of morals as to if I'd let anything other than another crassus do the job, and although I might spout dribble about wanting to do it here and there, my morals when it comes to herps are pretty much iron-clad, so it's quite likely that we will see those fabled flying pigs first, lol.

I could easily produce not only Morelia Intergrades and Blood Intergrades right now, but if I had a character of lesser quality, I could even shoot for the horrid SuperBall hybrid if I wanted to, but I've been able to resist all that with little effort all this time.

Every time I think about even an *accidental* intergrade being created here, my stomach begins to knot and my shoulders tense-up to the point of being mildly painful. When I think about a hybrid being produced here, even by accident, I literally start feeling sick and I'm getting pretty worked-up just typing all this, LOL.

I'll certainly keep my eyes open for another crassus, but the odds are stacked against me, so it's really more likely that I'll try to find a mate for Tagz, which will be considerably easier :)

You know my feelings on breeding though I toy with the idea of producing boas I have been offered a pair of breeding sized emeralds (mean buggers I know) and will probably add them to my collection they are coming from a friend of mine who is downsizing but the likelihood of me breeding them is still up for strong debate lol

To think it took 25 years to look like this and still not be able to hide that I'm so into boids :)

Yep emeralds full sized and mean as hell. My husband is dead set on getting theme so its time to start practicing with a hook since we currently don't use hooks with any snake right now

better believe I will be emailing her with tips and questions. Is she producing anything this year?
