View Full Version : Can My Reptiles Catch My Secondary Infecion?
Ok, so I know my reptiles can't catch my cold, but can they get a respiratory infection from my secondary infection? Today is feeding day for my snakes and I don't want them to catch it.

Use gloves during handling the prey etc just in case... but IDK if you can actually infect them at all. I'd play it safe anyway because I'd be pretty paranoid about that too :p

No, human virus does not infect reptiles.
R.I. in reptiles is Bacterial, colds are Viral.
no danger there.
Yea, but I have a secondary infection now which is bacterial.

Doubtful, just like you don't really worry about your dog getting sick from you. Of course, anything is possible, but you really wouldn't know unless you got your infection cultured.
Wash your hands before and after handling your snake and you should be fine (you should be doing that anyway, right?). I know I wash my hands several times while preparing to feed and actually feeding, but that might just be because of my girlfriend ("Get your mouse hands away from me!").
