i got a great deal tonight thru craigslist 40 gallon critterzilla, two hides climbing tree, two fixtures one with cramic bulb a plant now i need substrate what kinds best? a water dish, tongs. of course frozen pinkys, it will be a pastel morph bal python or a reg, oh has a undertank heater but the dude i got it from took kit off n itdont stick can i fix that or justgt a new one very siked:tired1_2::wacky::bouncy::)

For ball pythons, reptibark is what I would recommend (it holds humidity better than aspen). If you're getting a baby ball python, the 40gal will be big...so make sure to put lots of hides in there to make him feel safe (don't leave lots of open spaces...so you might need more than 2 hides). As for the under tank heater, I'd get a new one, and you MUST have it on a thermostat to properly control the temperatures. Unregulated under tank heaters can get wayyyy too hot for a ball python.
Edit to add: pinkies will be too small for a baby ball python. I'd look into rat fuzzes or rat pups to start him/her off.

Similar to Repti-Bark I like Eco-Earth soil.

eco earth soil is easy spot clean repti bark look's better but harder to clean

Reptibark is soooooooeasy to spot clean, i just use a large serving type spoon, scoop out the soiled stuff and then chuck in a handful of clean to fill the hole :)

yea that all i use now is repti bark i got like a poop scooper snake style XD
