Can i say as an outsider to this (I'm in the UK) this is the first time Iv'e logged on to this forum and read so many heated posts, its usually so happy and helpful a place. Some of the stuff Iv'e read today imo has been over the top. I don't see the point in arguing among ourselves. I kinda think its the people who are trying to pass this legislation that should be getting an earful.

I agree the threads are nasty, I for one have an opinion but have decided to keep it to myself since really since I can not do anything to help or hinder the ban process. I hope people do speak up for what they believe in I just wish it didn't result in finger pointing and insults.

On our members attacking each other instead of proactively working together? It makes the hobby look even more in a shambles when people start mud slinging and name calling and I really don't want anything to do with it. I read almost everything that gets posted these threads included but I really don't see the need to pick sides and argue something I cannot help.

I agree with this but since Im in the U.S., I can do my part and I did. I signed the petition and emailed letters to President Obama, Conressman Boswell and Senators Harkin and Grassley. Thats all I can do. I just have to leave the rest in God's hands. Good news is a lot of people have signed this petition.

Not gonna lie. I've been out of the industry for a long time. Still keeping but not looking into the nonsense thats involved. I have no idea about bans and such. I don't even know if this affects me.

I've been a member on this site for a very long time. In the industry even longer.

All this banter reminds me of before the new owners took over. There was alot of attacking of others and bull going on. After that for a long time this site was dead. Completely dead. I even remember receiving personal emails from boots ( within the first few weeks he took over. ) asking me why I don't come back more often.

All this has to stop. We are all here for the same reasons. Stop the bull.

The problem is I also hope it doesn't come to that either because all of the current "stuff" going on isn't even with new members... and I would rather not have this forum lose anyone... without absolute just cause :( Because yes we are all friends and are starting to get to know each other but what I am worried about is new members getting detoured by the "exclusiveness" of the relations we are building :S Hopefully I am making sense I am trying to tread lightly...

We are all very passionate about our animals, and about this wonderful hobby. And that passion can get very heated, very quickly, with diverse personalities that make up this family, but i hate to see passionate arguments become all out mudslinging, which if the mudslinging becomes an all too familiar part of a site, then all that site is known for is the down and dirty tactics used to get points across. That actually drove me away from a few sites, and i truly hope we rise above that, because i know we are better than that:)

I'm not a prude, and I am all for voicing ones opinion. But I think if you can't share your views calmly and rationally without attacking the opposition with vulgarity and name calling, then you will be dismissed as a nut job. :wacky:

Bingo!! And the most knowlegable person who represents themselves by using obcenity/insult or any other method to try to enrage the other party, ends up looking like a dumbass and therefore thier very factual information DOES NOT get considered at all.

It`s a shame really, when all you have to do is,think of how YOU would like YOUR opinions to be treated and treat OTHERS in the same manner.

I feel like my posts get avoided a lot. But, it's always easy to be oversensitive about these things. I tried to stay out of the ban talk, but i did get a little frustrated. I don't think i called names though, so hopefully i wasn't part of that bad stuff. lol

Take negativity with a grain of salt. Since being here I have learned that some people lack couth and tact. Usually they do not mean to sound mean, it just comes out that way. I am guilty of this too and sincerely apologized to the person. Since then I have tried harder to be more tactful so my words are not misinterpreted but not everyone does that.

Some people just say it like they see it and do not realize how harmful the words are, others just don’t care. That’s the way of people.

There are a few people here that say what’s on their mind regardless of proper social etiquette. Don’t allow comments that can be taken two different ways to offend or hurt your feelings. Ignore the negative comments and take them at face value. I can honestly say that I have not noticed anyone directly assault you and you seem to fit in just fine in my eyes. You are a part of the family and I love your posts. They are well stated with lots of research and I am a sucker for science fact.

We all at times type posts that come across as slightly rude or blunt - the mark of a good forum member is one that apologises and explains rather than kicking off when pulled up about it :)

This debate is irrelevant to what is happening. The fact remains that this rule change only affects four species, Anacondas, Burmese Pythons, Northern and Southern African Rock Pythons and this only prohibits them from crossing state lines. No other ban is in effect; not with Retics, Green Anacondas, Amethistines or Indian Rock Pythons. Even if you have any of the four species in question, you can still keep them as long as your state allows it and you dont cross state lines with them.

As I said before in the other thread, no one is going to change anyone else's mind so why all the misspent emotional energy? Its not doing anyone any good.

One possibility, and even I have done that, composed a post, never pressed submit, and moved on to the next post.

Possibility number two, the server was running the daily backup just as you submitted, that has happened before as well.

possibility number three (least likely, as it would have "ate" several peoples posts) is the server shifted into safe mode while we were using it.
