Anyone use these things? Please tell me they work great for UTHs, I just bought three of them... they were on sale.

Ive never used those, but i have used the normal wall dimers with awsome success. are they anything alike?
Corr, i currently use those.. They were recommended to me by others on the forums.. I have had no problems with them at all, they work great!!!.. Might i ask how much they were on sale for??? Might have to make a trip out to Ikea :)
The only difference that I can see is these ones are the slide type rather than the rotary. I like that the plug-in is at the other end from the control. All the wires can be hidden and the control can be mounted to the cage. I got them for 10 bucks each! I could have prolly built them cheaper but these seem so easy and compact.
Nice, looks like I need to stop by Ikea to stock up.
Did you go to the Ikea 1/2 off sale today? I must have been crazy! It took us 15 minutes just to find a place to park last time we went there. I couldn't imagine if they had a SALE!
Did you buy me some?......lol
It was a zoo! I've never seen it so busy.
I'm gonna have to go check those out! The brand I use is the same type (no wiring, sliding table top dimmer) only I have been paying $25 for them :confused"
 Holy smoke! I thought it was too good to be true... the regular price is $18 I think. They had lots of them in Burlington.
I was just at Home Depot and they wanted $21.98 for 1.
That is a heck of a deal. Prolly kicking yourself now for not getting 20 of them.....
I know when katey and I buy the parts (see our rheostat thread), we spend about 10$ on the parts.
How many watts are they?
They're rated for 300 watts...
Corr have you tried them out yet. I was wonder if they work very good. It doesn't look like they have much adjustment to them. I have seen them before just never bought any to try them. But I don like the fact that you can just plug them in and go.
Bill
I haven't tried them yet... I'm waiting for some new UTHs so I can set up the new cages I got. I'll post as soon as everything is together and working.

Haha good ol' ikea... we're buying a little cabinet from there, then using it as a base to the chameleon cage we're building... it's going to be awesome, I'll definitely post pics when we're done... You can find so much stuff at that place for cheap!
(Haha our whole living room was just redone and it looks like an Ikea showroom - LITERALLY) :)
Kate
Yeah, we love Ikea too. We have one of their wall units (Niklas) and we just finshed renovating our downstairs washroom, accessories coutesy of Ikea. :D

Haha! Yup you may as well open a new bank account now and start savin' up, just in case yknow? They've got way too many knick-knacks that it's just so easy to fill up the cart lol!
While we were redecorating, my parents literally became attached to the store cuz Ikea's also got a lot of decorating ideas, so my dad would go in with the digital camera to take pictures of the show rooms and I'd have to make a distraction away from him, either dropping things or trying to act very suspicious... Sigh, we're dorks!
Hehe, that's hilarious! I know what you mean though. I put in a new sink, new tile and paint but we really didn't know how we were going to decorate until we walked around the store and then it all came together.
I'll post before and after pics when I get home.

... the basket, stand, pictures and towels are all Ikea stuff. There's also a funky towel hook to the right of the sink and toilet paper holder that is hidden.
I know I'm supposed to be a tough snake handler but... *wispers* I like decorating too. :D
Oh yeah, Trading Spaces is cool! Looking forward to seeing the jungle theme...

That's an AWESOME difference! So cool! I've got the tiles to the right in my bathroom and the tiles to the left in my dining room lol... Well I just got a whole bunch of pictures taken, my mum's pretty bitter that I only cleaned my room to show it to you but oh well! I took lots... Digicams rule ! :D Oh well, my dad's about to upload them onto his laptop, so I'm gonna have to find a disk to transfer them here... Check back in a little bit!!!
Yay Ikea!

Thanks! That's my favourite too
Yea it was a pretty neat find! It's one of those bathing suit wraps, but we found it at "Coco Loco" for 20 bucks! We attached to a piece of wood and it hung nicely :)
Hey, it looks great Kate! I recognized the blue and yellow pictures and the lamp... very cool. Thanks for the pics, fortunately I have a high speed connection.
Back on topic - I got my UTHs tonight so I should have the cages set up this weekend. :)

I use these on my tanks with great success but I definitely didn't pay 10 bucks... :( Well there is the peace of mind that it is CSA approved and won't burn down my house. Insurance companies tend to get a little bit anal about DIY Electrical...;)
