Okay so Athena has finally gone through her first shed since I have had her. She was in her log for the entire time she was in blue. And I think from being in such a tight spot she may have had problems. She retained a very small amount of shed about a 1/4" around on her side. I know that a retained shed can be bad so I peeled off as much as I could. But there is still a little dead skin clinging to scales or in between. Is this an issue? I don't want her to get ill from something as trivial as dead skin...

If her vent, eyes, heat pits, and tail tip are clear you really have nothing you should worry about.

The only time i would be overly ocncerned apart from what Stephan mentioned is if their is a piece stuck that goes round the whole girth of the snake.
What they said, but if it bothers you some warm water on a wash cloth and letting her crawl through it in your hand should do the trick. I've also just soaked mine for a couple minutes and had it basically peel right off.

Our male had a bad shed first shed at our house. We peeked it all off after a nice warm bath. He had a small spot on his head that didn't come off but it left with the next shed.
Good luck. No worries.

Keep an eye on your humidity and you should never have an issue. I have never had to assist with a shed.

If its just a little bit you might be able to get it off with a warm wet washcloth

Never thought about this. How come it's bad if there's a piece stuck that goes around the whole girth of the snake? Is it just because it would be tight around the snake's body? Just curious

Yeah, just the tightness really, and to the OP - first sheds can be nasty so dont worry too much as long as your humidity is right, the snake has been kept in one place, then transported, then put into a new enclosure - it is stressful and you dont really know that the husbandry was perfect in the previous home.
As long as the next shed is ok then you will be fine, a couple of my snakes had bad first sheds with me but have since been fine.

Okay then. My humidity is generally around 50-60 percent but when the humidifier comes on it goes up to around 80. I am not worried about the shed now. I thought that they shed more frequently then this durning the first year or so. I had her for a little over two months before her first shed. Not that worried about it but just want to make sure that everything is good.
