So after much trial and error I have learned that ASF can't be housed in plastic containers, as they chew out of them :( So I have to house them in glass tanks. So I was trying to figure out a way to set up a rack system so it doesn't take up as much space.

I still need to replace the 10 gal tanks with 3-30 gal tanks for when I'm producing higher numbers.

But here is what it looks like for now

Why didn't you line the inside of the plastic containers with that galvinized mesh?

Never thought of that. lol

I get a good deal on tanks so I thought I would go that route. Plus a 30 gal tank is much bigger then any plastic tub.

Why not make a rack out of plastic cement tubs instead of aquariums? They can be housed in plastic as long as it doesn't have interior edges for there teeth to get a hold of. Friend of mine has a set up with like 20 tubs for rats and they do great in those things.

if they chew on galv wont that make them sick or hurt the snake? Dumb Q?

We used a combination of both techniques! We had cement mixing bins with metal lining the only holes that the rat could chew one. We had no escapee's unless they jumped while I was cleaning(even then, fairly easy to catch an asf that just hit the ground) For some reason the tubs we used had holes on one end to hang them up, so we just needed a small piece of mesh to cover it. BEst of luck, the tanks look great so if you feel they aren't too much work, I'd stick to them!

@Shmoges I cant find those cement mixing tubs here in Calgary, and like I already said the 30 gal tank is much larger then any tub :)

@Caylan Thanks. I haven't had any escapee's since I started using tanks. They can't jump out of the tanks as they are to high :) I find the tank is the same amount of work as the tubs.
