"Redrock" is trained to sense seizures!
Pet Snake's Job Is to Sense His Owner's Seizures - Exotic Animals & Pets, Pet News : People.com (http://www.peoplepets.com/people/pets/article/0,,20493742,00.html).
Cool. I hope one day he doesn't have a seizure in public and have people think that the snake is killing him around his neck.

Good point, spooky.
It's amazing what some animals can do, especially those that are deemed 'untrainable'. And after all the bad press that snakes get, it's good to see one in a positive light, even if it's a one-of-a-kind thing.

What a great story! As someone else mentioned, it's terrific to see a positive press report :)
I find it a little hard to believe.

I would be curious to know how on earth they would train any snake to sense seizures, and to respond by squeezing the neck, and to then "jump" into a zippered bag *lol*...though i think snakes are smart, and somewhat trainable...like, trainable to things they naturally do...(this is where the squeezing comes in i guess) i too find this a liiiiitle bit hard to swallow!

Sounds like a load of tosh to me - the snake isnt getting proper husbandry if it is being carried around all the time, it may be able to sense the changes in the guys body but being "trained" i am not convinced about at all!

I have to agree with everyone in this. Not buyin' it really.
I'm sceptical about the snake being TRAINED, but is it possible the snake picks up on the physiological changes in his body before he has a seizure and becomes STRESSED by this, and simply finds the nearest safe haven i.e. the bag ? Just a thought lol
