If I came across Irony and the Widow in the wild..or in my house, it would cause me to scream involuntarily and begin running away as fast as my bad knee would allow. I would then remember that they can't run as fast as I can as I find myself upstairs searching my bathroom for a can of hairspray so I could freeze them so they couldn't get me.

They are great to look at - in pictures! They give me the heebie jeebies! LOL

Trants are cool though and don't scare me like other spiders.

Cool stuff. I've never seen a whip scorpion before so that was a learning experience.

the spiders are strictly hypothetical for me as Becky is deathly afraid of all spiders. She doesn't even like spider ball pythons. LOL.

I'm pretty sure you're correct. I dunno if I could ever keep a widow myself.

My son used to keep Black Widows as pets. I was ok with that untill she started laying an egg sack. Thats where I drew that line.

THey used to eat whip scorpions on fear factor, too. I was actually in las vegas the one day they had them on a poker table and people had to eat them. Funny thing is, they are vicious looking, but don't even defend themselves. They are so tame!

I have all of those, too, except the emperor scorpion ...and the widows. I just could NOT have those. I spent too many years having them jump out at me or run at me in the garage when i was a kid (we lived out in the boonies) and my parents made me so paranoid about them. The little shiney spiders creep me out, though i hold and play with our big ones (the ones that don't kick hairs lol). I have a super super sweet rose hair that someone was going to LET GO and "get rid of" because their roommate (exboyfriend i'm guessing) left it behind. She just sits there..you can move a leg, pick her up, prod, she just goes with it. I hope it's a she, i think it is. She's the best spider ever!
