Hi!
I hope to learn more about my babies here and meet some great people while at it. :)
I'm from New Brunswick and finding fellow reptile fans can be hard around here at times, maybe here I'll have more luck. But no matter where your from, I look forward to meeting you all and sharing in our shared love of Herps.

Blessed Be.

Hi! Thanks for all the nice warm welcomes! :D I would love to post up pictures of my lizards. My Tropical spiney-tailed lizards I just got at christmas so I don't have too many of them yet, they are so skittish it's hard to get a good photo of them.

Here's my Beardie, Yoshi.

My Sudan Plated Lizard, Mion.
(actually still unsure if he's a sudan or another kind of plated, it's been hard to find out for sure. also not sure if he's a male.)

And my two new little Tropical Spiney-Tailed lizards
(they were sold as Armadillo lizards, but I knew they weren't the kind I was looking for after I got them and am pretty sure I've figured out what species they actually are now)

I am currently trying to find Actual Girdled Armadillo lizards (Cordylus cataphractus) but am finding it suuuper hard to locate a place near me that has them, or an online store in canada or a place online that will ship to canada.
Also trying to start a Lobster Roach colony and having trouble finding someone who will ship to canada as well.

most won't ship to Canada, you have to find a company that specialises in live cross border shipping and they would arrange it for you.

or if you live near the border as I do, you can find companies that will recieve your lizzards state-side and you cross to get them yourself. You will have to have made an appt with the fish and wildlife authorities for a check of your shipment before you can bring them back into Canada. It is a cheaper endeavor if you claim them as pets rather than breeders, but if you bring in too many at a time, they may charge you as a breeder no matter what you say.

Unfortunately roaches are illegal in Canada... not to say that you can't find them, you just have to look extra hard.

I live a couple hours from the border, so it's not out of the question that I could pick them up state side. Always been unsure how to go about the whole crossing with them though. Thanks for the info :)
I was beginning to suspect roaches were so hard to find here for a reason, that's ashame, I hear lobster roaches wouldn't survive our climate if they escaped anyway, so I was hoping there was no issue with them. But they sound like such a good insect feeder for my herps, so I'll keep an eye out :)

Hello and welcome to SSNAKESs! Those are amazing animals.

What have you found to be the cost of gettind Lobster Roaches from the States? We are pretty low now, but perhaps in the future we could save you some $$$ if possible?

Just keep in mind that lobster roaches can and do climb! Whatever they are being kept in will have to have a thick boarder of Vaseline or olive oil around the top so they cant escape. You are best tong feeding them to your animals because they will climb out of their tanks. Dubai may be a better choice, non climbing, non flying. Not to mention they can survive living inside a normal heated house, their breeding will just be slowed down.

Well well well! Great to see another person in NB! Welcome! I am in saint John myself and have work up in your area a couple of times. There is a Guy in Fredericton selling dubia roaches. Good luck and have fun here. If you ever come down to this foggy patch of mud let me know!

lobster roaches are certainly more of a cost than mealworms or crickets, but since they grow bigger I suppose it's to be expected. I'd say it's usually 20-25$ for 50.

Hey Korbin :) I actually grew up in Saint John, living here because I took college here. Done now, just waiting for the other half to finish his college. I do visit family in saint john now and again, so I'll let you know. Do you have a contact for this guy who sells dubai roaches? Sounds like they are a better bet to get for feeders anyway, no climbing, flying and breed well. I have a small mealworm colony, but they aren't producing fast enough to sustain a great supply to my lizards, and they're so small. I just started a cricket colony and hope that it goes well, but really want roaches as a third protein treat for my babies.
