well i actually put him in her tank, imo its best to introduce the male to the female in her own tank

if you put the female into the males tank she tends to explore

where as the male should hopefully only have one thing on his mind, that don't involve exploring the tank;)

will get pictures up over the next few days

chuck
i decided to go for it mate, did you ?

what kind of carpets will come out of that pairing?

the males is,a jungle jaguar

the female is,a diamond jungle

so it would be.....

diamond jungle jaguars

diamond jungle jaguar siblings (the hatchlings that did not inherit the jag gene)

i'm not sure how they will turn out, what with the female being black and white, instead of the usual black and yellow most diamond jungles tend to be ?

now if i got a black and white diamond jungle jag  that would be something very special.i don't know if there has been any hatched black and white before (i can dream;))

when i put my gosford male diamond,to the black and white diamond jungle, then i think things will get really really interesting;)

but he's a year and a bit away from sexual maturity:sad:

all of the above is dependant on me being lucky enough to be successfull in their breeding

Aye true. lol
So being new to all of this, how long if the matings successful will it be untill you have hatchlings ?

i'm basing her on a pure jungle carpet python even though shes a diamond jungle cross mate,so'''''

after last witnessed copulation.....

ovulation should take place anything from 11 to 25 days after..... (average 18 days)

pre lay shed should be another 17 to 25 days..... (average 18 days)

she should lay 19 to 35 days later.....(average 25 days)

eggs should hatch 47 to 61 days later.....(average 54 days)

if you add all the averages,it should be roughly 115 days after last copulation, that i hope to have wee heads popping out the eggs (if i'm lucky enough to get eggs)

as said mate thats all based on a pure jungle,so she may be a little different with the diamond blood in her

to be honest mate,i was keeping the B&W female for the gosford male

but i thought i'd give her a trial run with the jun/jag

a lot of diamond jungle jags are produced using.....

diamond jungle x coastal jag

i'm hoping with less coastal in the mix, they might turn out more vibrantly coloured

also her having a bright clean white, instead of the usual more common yellow, might bring something interesting to the results

heres hoping;)

Well Shaun i put my Jag in with my diamond x Jungle on the 2nd. I swear he not move from be hide the water bowl. He got himself wedge in the corner between the door, side and water bowl. He acts like he scared to death of her. I open the door this morning to put fresh water in and he shot up my arm and around my head like he was running for life. I am hoping he warms up to her soon.

Hope yours lock up for you soon.

based on reading what the many retic breeders are talking about, sometimes its worth a shot to throw another male's old shed in will get the desired male a little rev'd up and defensive and throw him into breed mode as he'll want the female to himself.

Pull your hides and water dish for a day or try using only 1 hide and see what happens. Also are you 100% sure she is a she?(i'm sure you are but gotta ask). My male jcp won't eat, always on the cool side and when we let him roam a bit he goes right for our females viv and will spend 30 min looking for a way in. He is totaly in breed mode. Carpets are very shy about doing the deed and you may never see it happen even if it does. If they cuddle they are doing it. Good luck to you both.

i was thinking of putting a shed i kept from the male irian jag mate

i also considered putting 2 males together to provoke combat, but i've read that sometimes the loser refuses to breed for 1 or 2 years after losing the combat

just as i was about to either throw and old shed in the tank or initiate supervised combat between 2 of my males.....

at 6am this morning i quickly shone a torch in the tank and caught rthe male using his spurs to get the female in the mood

i woke up to a full lock that broke off at 5pm tonight,so an 11 hour lock

imo, diamonds are incredable to keep, their husbandry is so different from all the other morelia.imo much more economical and easier once you've got the hang of it

mine get only 2 to 4 hours basking spot of 90f per day depending on the season, then no more heat

2 to 10 hours uvb per day depending on the season

only feed them 6 months of the year

from the jet black to brown they hatch out the egg, they just get brighter and brighter with each shed:shocked:

Daughter: Mama...I lurve you! :D

Daughter: Can I have some money to go to the mall? I'll bring you back some sushi! :D (she knows that's a weakness) lol

Son: Mama, I lurve you!!! :D

Typical lol

My examples may have been a bit exaggerated, but they're very far from the truth! All three incidences describe actually happened this week, but in a bit different form and maybe verbiage.

What sucks is when she goes to the mall and fails to bring back sushi...instead comes back with change. I REALLY wanted that sushi!

My son had me help buy him games last weekend. Then I had to give him an extra $5 cuz he didn't have it all lol. I thought it was cute because he kept promising to pay me back but I wasn't looking for it. He hounded me everyday until they came in (I have most everything shipped to my work, including my snakes...just don't tell my boss :p )

What sucked about it is he bought my boyfriend a game for a late Christmas gift....he didn't get me squat for Xmas. :O_o: Even this has a positive side. This means they're getting along much better :D That's the best gift he could have given me :D

So...uhh...Shauny....have they locked again for you? (attempting to put the thread back on track) :)

Well if it makes you feel any better my son bought his dad, 2nd mom, girlfriend, and sisters presents but forgot me & Michael...

I would be upset but like you I am happy because he is finally getting along with his dad and starting to think of other people. *Le Sigh* lol

If I weren't so thick skinned it would make me sad. Lucky for him I understand how his mind works and I understand.
