Wow with the reduce pattern at first glance she almost look like a Jag. That is one super sweet looking Irain Jaya.

Beautiful snake you have there. What does the F2 stand for?

theres 2 different snakes pictured,male and female;)

re F2
when you breed 2 UNRELATED snakes,the hatchlings are called F1's

when you breed 2 x F1's ,brother and sister

you get F2'S

in my case these F2's,will be bred again to produce F3's

in a specific line breeding project you take the best examples of each clutch/generation and breed them back to each other

this strengthens the trait you are line breeding for

in my case its their high yellow and reduced patterns

i'm hoping by F3 or F4 the hatchlings will be a very high quality yellow,with good looking reduced patterns

in short
F1 = first generation
F2 = 2nd generation
F3 = 3rd generation

and so on,carpets imo can be bred to F4,F5 with no birth abnormalitys or any other type of problems

That's interesting about the generational lingo. With fish F2 means generations removed from wild caught but I knew it had to be something different with Aussie snakes. Thanks for the info.

the F1,F2,F3,etc applys to all snakes norm,not just the ozzy ones ;)

snake wise,using wild caught or unrelated captive bred parents and its the same as your fish mate:D

unless your from germany and know the right people;)

after lengthy paperwork there are now rough scaled carpet pythons (morelia carinata) in europe

once they're old enough to put out hatchlings,just wait and see how many illegal roughies hit the european market norm ;)

terry philps of the reptile gardens in the usa,has already bred these,after the ozzy government gave him a breeding pair a few years back

germany seems to be able to get ANYTHING they want from oz mate,they've had albino carpets for years for example:D

the likes of you and i norm,have been banned from exporting from oz,since 1982

theres a very reveered old GENTLMEN here in the uk,that has some wonderfull ozzy stuff,even a pair of PURE darwin carpet pythons.all his australian stuff has the highest provinance backing it up.

as always,its down to who you know mate (sadly i don't know them,lol)

cheers shaun
