What type of fluorescent light do you prefer for bringing out the best colors of your snake(s)? I have a green tree python going through the "change" and currently have a 14watt cool white by Phillips. I do not think this is the best for bringing out the colors and I am looking for some suggestions. Thanks.
Sunlight, without a doubt. No fake light can rival the colours brought out by good old fashioned sunlight.

Actually, I find bright sunlight to not be the best. An overcast day usually brings out the colors better as it does a superb job of diffusing the sun's spectum.
Of course this has nothing to do with the original question which was about which fluorescent light do you prefer...

I've never really used any light for viewing as my snakes are usually quite shy in bright lights... Only by bci really comes out to bask a bit.. If I ever get a good display snake that doesn't mind the lights things might change tho.. :D
In my experiences, all fake light sucks at bringing out the TRUE colours of what you're photographing.

While that is probably true I am not asking about what type of fluorescent light is best for photography. I am asking about which fluorescent light do people like best for viewing their snakes in their enclosures.
Maybe I should rephrase the question: For those who use flourescent lights in their inclosures which type do you find most pleasing to your eye! :D

i use a natural sunlight 2.0 uvb flurescent strip with my diamond pythons (on a seasonal cycle)
i experimented with my other carpets using 5.0 uvb,but found it to be way too strong for my bredl pythons

Thanks Shaun. By seasonal do you mean how long the lights are on vs. off? Since my GTP is from the equatorial region I keep a 12 hour on/off cycle.

yes mate
just now all my female diamond gets is a basking spot of 90f and uvb for 2 hours per day (shes in winter cooling cycle)
summer she gets basking spot of 90f for 4 hours, uvb light for 10 hours
i give them temps and light cycles to match the season
i get my temperatures and daylight times from here.....
