So, do anyone else's animals rush for the fresh water like mine do? A while ago there was a post made (infernalis maybe?) about keeping the water fresh, because some snakes won't drake stale, or old water which may have algea growing in it. Since that post, i've been doing fresh water daily...or at least every other day because sometime i do work too much and i don't get to it until the next evening. I have three snakes especially that as soon as that water is changed, they slither over as fast as they can and get a drink. It's ADORABLE. Totally makes me feel guilty for when i miss a day, and for those snakes i actually do try to do every single day. (Most of the others are still on their UTH's and haven't moved, so i know they didn't drink.)
Anyway, I dump the water, wipe out the bowl, and put fresh (bottled) water in. Last night i spent a long time doing some husbandry, and took my time handling most everyone and giving water, and then i got to see the rush to the water bowls *lol* perfectly reasonable, but it's just so silly and cute!
I mean it's not like they don't have perfect stats and are like, dying of thirst...they just love the fresh stuff. It's never really a long drink, they just like it. Does anyone else notice a rush to the water bowl?

Mine always do...
I wash out the bowls with dawn and a scrubbie, fill with fresh water and they rush right to it.
Some of them even dive in for a swim and then promptly poop in it, making me change it twice.

Yes, same here. My cats are the same way too. Honestly, I don't blame them, I prefer fresh water. lol
My Spots is the same.
As for my cats they will only drink running water ( out of the tap)

We "refresh" our water bowls each day whilst spraying the other tanks each one gets a top up then on the weekend each bowl is emptied and cleaned and refilled. None of our snakes rush to check out the clean water tho

Since Garters are semi aquatic snakes, I need to change mine frequently, they will swim in the bowl, then leave, get all covered in substrate and sometimes re-enter the water and pollute it.
They also love to poop in the water.
Half the time I think they rush the water bowl to see if there is any fish swimming in it, since it is their natural instinct to go fishing.

Speaking of water bowls my snakes normally poop in their water bowl. I went home for lunch and saw kota in his so I am expecting a unpleasant surprise.

Obviously if a snake poos in its bowl it gets changed immediately :) tho none of mine seem to do so on a regular basis.

this is interesting, I've never seen either of my snakes do this, however when Nero got out the first thing I did was give him fresh water and he drank and bathed for a while, I'll have to pay more attention tonight when I go to give them water.

I have a couple bps that will rush to the fresh water but the carpets never do. I must have mostly lazy snakes.

I haven't noticed this. Could just be the sound that makes them want to check it out?

Mine never rush to it and I change mine everyday. It's an OCD habit. Everytime I check a cage, I check out the water for mites, clean, and put in fresh water.

I change out our water every second or third day, and freshen it every day . I keep rather large dishes in their tanks . Dave could fit in his water bowl 3 times . Tequila has a small one that she cannot fully fit in but she slides through it now and then. I am currently looking for a retail commercial glass display cabinet to convert into a home for them. Right now she does not have enough room for a larger bowl .

And most times when I freshen their water or change it all together they rush over for a drink.
