Hello everyone. I'm from the Hudson Valley in New York, and came across this forum the other day. It has been a wonderful source of information, so kudos to the members of this community. I currently own a bearded dragon. As he is getting too big for his current enclosure I purchased a big own to pick up at a reptile expo on jan 8. However, my girlfriends father built her a really nice tank for christmas. She felt terrible her dad spent all this time on making it. Fortunately for me, this ends my scheming and plotting on how I could convince her to let me get a snake. Now we have to to use both tanks. Sweet deal! So at the reptile expo (the one in White Plains) I going to be looking for a new pet snake. Very excited. Anyway just wanted introduce myself. Have a happy new year :D

I was thinking of a ball python. I want something that is very docile and friendly and looks great. I can't afford to spend a ton of money on one though. Other suggestions are welcome. The enclosure I will be using is 38x18x24. Oh also forgot to mention that I have a dubia roach colony for my beardie as well.

Ya thinking about a ball python. I really love some of the more colorful morphs but can't afford to spend tons of money on one.

Ball pythons are an awesome choice ;) Like you said, docile and friendly and look great. You don't need to spend a whole lot- you can get a really nice normal for $10-$20 at an expo!

Welcome... Good luck with your new snake when you choose... If you like more colourful morphs on a tight budget you could consider corn snakes. I know they're not as big n slow as royals but there is a wide range of morphs out there and usually cheaper.
