SNAKES ARE WEIRD!

They do weird things to get our attention!

As I said to start with here, I thought after bringing her home on Christmas eve she would disappear, but she's still on the vine in the corner, and seems reluctant to venture onto the floor of the viv or go into a hide. Apart from changing her water today I hav'nt disturbed her. Any thoughts anyone ?

There are days when my Ball Python will spend all his time on his platform, just hanging out, and other times he'll be in his hide all day and night, don't know why, but heck, i enjoy seeing him out and about when he is:D

How big is her hide? If it's too big she may not feel safe and that's why she's on the vine. They like to be able to touch all sides when they're curled up. How hot is her belly heat and what's her cool side temp? If your husbandry is fine, she may just be an unusual one. My first ball would sit outside her hide for days for no apparent reason other than to watch what little traffic she got. She also loved her water bowl when she her temps and humidity were fine and she never had mites. Some are just exceptions.

Her viv is set up exactly the same as the one she was in at the breeders and she seemed ok with the hides there. I visited a few times and sometimes she was hiding sometimes she was out, not sure about here cool side temp as I only have 1 thermomiter and I dont want to disturb her by moving it about, her basking spot is 90f.

I'm sure she's fine. Of our new BPs the little enchi is the one to be out exploring while the others at content in their hides for the most part. And as they're all n the sme rack the conditions are nearly identical. So it definitely seems to me that every snake is different.

Our baby BP was active as anyhting for the first month or so - always out cruising his viv and going against everyhting i had read about them, once he was "settled" he hides and we barely see him at all! :)

Ive found a lot of young snakes will climb and sit in vines for quite a while... My dwarf boa will also do this ALOT but apparently that's normal for them. As long as temps are good and there's plenty of hides then youve got a "weird" snake lol :D .... It's definitely a good idea to invest in more thermometers tho, or an infra red temp gun. Even over the space of a few inches surface temperatures can vary by quite a lot.
