Kinking can happen to any snake. It's most often a result of temperature fluctuations during incubation/gestation. I've seen some examples of it that are relatively minor (tip of the tail), and some that are horribly frightening (several kinks along the body) - it depends on how much the temperature did fluctuate during development. It does not correct itself and cannot be fixed.

From what i have read kinks between the cloaca and the tip of the tail can be lived with and have little effect on the life of the snake - anything further up the body has the risk of interfereing with internal organs and digestion.

My gecko has a kink in it's tail. ;/

Thanks man...coz my friend will go have Caramel Albino ball..and i saw every post from Kingsnake.com breeder mention their C.A has no kinking. Therefore, to make me think of C.A majority have that.

the above covers kinking well
i know not everyone agrees with me but.....
i would euthinise any deformed or kinked snakes right out the egg
we have NO way of telling what quality of life these animals have or if they're suffering in anyway
you also get genetic kinking that can be passed on to hatchlings, another reason why i advocate euthinisation.
it is not my intention top offend anyone and i don't want to argue over my ways,i only wanted to point out not everyone thinks kinked and deformed snakes should be kept as pets

My albino burm developed some nasty kinks all down the last third of his body. Besides being ugly, he still lives a normal life.

imo thats a whole different thing from kinking caused by genetics or incubation
your geckos is slight accidental damage

I posted that before I read your post Shaun. I agree with you. I paid 400 bucks for a ****** snake that shouldn't have been sold. Didn't know he was genetically predisposed to turn out like this...

I know. :) Just mentioning it, so not everyone with a imperfect tail thinks they have genetic issues.

ALL lines of Caramel Albinos (in Ball Pythons) kink to some degree. If the breeder says any different they are a liar.........
One breeder in Canada was claiming this line of Caramels was "Kink free" and that he had produced "50 babies as proof". Well, a friend of mine bought that line and this year produced 10 Caramels and 7 were kinked. So, the "Kink free" line produced 70% kinked :unhappy:
About 10-20% of the Caramels I produce are kinked and always in the middle of their backs. Others produce tail kinks (which some breeders clip off and then sell as kink free babies) while others produce neck kinks, or skinny heads.
I still think there is lots to be done with the Caramels. However, you just have to be aware that they can kink.

Oh my God!!!
It's Corey Effin' Woods!!
Lol...
Come on Corey, don't be a pansy... tell 'em who the breeder is with the kinked up "kink-free" line.

I agree, outing bad breeders is a community service.
