Wondered if any of you folks have ever noticed this behavior in any of your snakes. About 2 weeks ago, my son's Nuevo Leon kingsnake shed - a perfect, beautiful, one-piece shed that we were fortunate enough to catch the tail end of (pun intended). Being a normally secretive kinda guy, we figured he'd just head back into one of his hides or burrow into the substrate when he was finished, but instead, he did about 5 complete victory laps around the entire enclosure! It was hilarious! He's like, "Look at my pretty new skin! Am I beautiful, or what?" We just found the parade laps funny and completely over the top. Anybody else ever seen this?

My Grey Banded King does the exact same thing. As soon as he's done with his shed, he will go around his enclosure a few times, and then up onto his climbing branch for a spell, then he'll come back down, do another spin around the enclosure, then head back into his hide. He is the only one of my snakes to do that, everyone else heads straight back into hiding as soon as they're done shedding:D

They're more vulnerable when in shed so maybe once they get the darned thing off they want to explore a bit.

Snakes are funny at times. Last night my Shelby was huffing his little head off and pushing his water bowl around the cage. He remodeled everything, all while huffing and puffing like a maniac.

I've never seen either of my snakes shed, so I can't comment, however I think you guys should try and video tape their "victory laps" next time it happens.

After my BP sheds he will do a few laps. It's almost as if his scales have been itchy and he can finally get to scratch it. He goes over all his logs a few times they balls up for a nap.

Hopefully one of us will catch him in the act again and try to get some video of the whole production. I just have this funny image in my head of him giving the beauty queen wave (if he could) as he struts around the enclosure. Sorry for the less-than-manly imagery, Pedro.
