Anyone else here keep one (or more) of these beauties? When my 10 yo son's common garter died after six great years, the search began shortly thereafter for a new snake (following the appropriate mourning period, of course ;)). After considering corns, other kings and various crosses, he finally fell in love with a little Leonis phase male Nuevo Leon kingsnake, and the rest is history! What a truly sweet little animal! He's about 1.5 years old, and about 2.5' in length (he won't get too much bigger) and has the least defensive temperment I've ever seen in any snake. He feeds well on fuzzy/hopper mice, and has really been a great "get over the fear of snakes" snake for both my wife and daughter. If ANYONE is considering a first snake for a child and wants an alternative to the occasionally nippy or lightning quick cornsnake, check out the Nuevo Leon kingsnake.

Meet Pedro!

Wow! Petco, huh? Ours came from a local reptile shop that breeds them (and several other species as well), but they can be difficult to come by. You can find them quite readily on the internet, and I've seen some beautiful examples from other reputable breeders. Great little snakes!

Yep, petco! I kind of wish I had gotten it now.

Cool. Very pretty snake too. I'm glad it's a good embassador for reptiles.
