As promised! :) picked up two new bloods 1.1 hatchlings, male is around 230g and female is around 150g

Top left is male other two are the same girl :)

they are a little feisty at the moment but handle decently only a few strike attempts and after a hour drive soo not bad now the worst part of getting a new snake... the waiting game... its such a tease... :D

P.S. black electrical tape is to mark which is the female lol (its on the outside ;) )

The more pictures I see of Bloods the more I want one. I love the colors on yours! I will never own one though. I am far to much of a spaz to have a snake that requires me to be very slow and steady.

Hahah! Don't worry, if you forget yourself around one of these things, it's quite likely to remind you who's *really* in charge ;)

It may not hurt, but you're quite likely to ruin a perfectly good pair of shoes if you have strong circulation 'cause you're going to bleed like there's no tomorrow, lol.

I've only ever taken a hit from my youngest, but it was awfully messy ;)

Who me no never! lol
It doesn't hurt any more than any other snake. Out of all the bites i taking over the years only two hurt. One was a baby Retic biting my nose and wouldn't letting go. The other was a 8 foot Burm that had a feed response nail my hand and was wrap for over 15 minutes before we got it off.
He left me with 14 broken teeth and temporary nerve damage in my hand.

It's all good. I'm not afraid to be bitten. I am VERY careful to avoid that end of the weapon. I do think I will have to get one someday but not right now.

What?! $20 for a blood python?! they go for around 250 here...

And yea! she is a 2010 hatch weigh around 1600 grams about 1.5 months ago... I figure shes gained 50-100 since then... I am going to wait until shes around 4500+ grams before even thinking about breeding... my new male is kicking around 250 grams, he I am going to wait until around 3500+ grams

PS I paid 175 plus over 100 for shipping... and 400 for the black sumatran! Worth it for the right snake!

Our price are high in Canada. Red's start around $80.00 on up each here and Black $150.00 on up. Then on kingsnake.com some time you catch deals. My wife got the other two for $100.00. So she got all 3 for $120.00 plus $55.00 shipping. Not often do you come across deals that good. But i guess the price up there are high, because you don't have everybody and their brother breeding them like we do here.

Cool pictures. Nothing like a kiss from a Blood Python. lol

Wow they draw lots of blood!
Maybe that's how they got their name :)

Its what happens when they pull so hard they tear your flesh... thick and strong!!! Still, less blood then a carpet to the back of the hand, but more painful(well in most cases, I've both snakes dislocate a finger now lol, but a 3 foot blood and an 8 foot carpet.... pretty significant difference!) ~Caylan.S.~

Thank you very much :) I love my bloods... one of them almost tagged me yesterday, I was feeding and she was just about done still had the tail to go. so I went in to replace her hide, with the tail still in her mouth she lunges at me and mid strike swallows the tail and tries to bite me! :O_o:... I almost peed myself haha

For two of them?

I think it is, but that's just me. A lot of breeders are really just in it for the money and prices are based on supply and demand, but in this case the supply is as low as the demand, so the cost should be low.

A friend who breeds her Blacks had babies at home for a year because she wouldn't let them go for less than $300 each. There are very few people up here who are into Bloods, and as such they can be hard to move. There is such little interest in them that I've never allowed breeding of mine because I know I'd never find good homes for them. Even places like Kijiji have the same Bloods listed month after month after month because there's just no interest.

My first Blood cost me $350 and I was very happy to pay it, but that was over 10 years ago and it was almost impossible to find a Canadian-bred Blood back then. That snake is still going strong with me, but I won't let him breed because of the lack of interest in them.

If you find the price okay and it won't put a dent in your pocket, go for it. Perhaps there is higher demand in your area to justify the price. I know you can find the odd Black in my area on Kijiji for around $150, but like I said, there's simply no interest in them in this one-horse town. Here in Ottawa, a body would have a hard time giving 1 away and an even harder time giving 2 away ;)

very interesting... I feel as though the interest in them is slowly going up in Canada, at least over here Toronto I feel it is... Hopefully the whole hobby increases in interest in the new future for us Canadian :D or i might be moving to the States ;)

The Blacks I was mentioning were bred in BC and they were taken to an expo there to see if they could be sold, but they didn't find homes with the exception of 1 that Caylan had arranged to pick-up at the expo.

One has since found it's way to Ottawa, actually and it's doing well, but there are so few other Blood keepers in this 1-horse-town that'll it'll probably never mate.

As much as I'd love my big boy brong to pass-on his awesome genes, I just don't see it happening :(

Keep us posted as to the Blacks :)

I paid 450 for my girl, so it was a bit more then most would pay. But I saw the parents, I knew what I was getting, and I love the snake I got. Her black is black and her brown is turning grey just like I thought it would. She is turning into a true black beauty! Quality costs money, and its not so easy to find in Canada either....

I cant wait to start breeding my bloods I am not looking to make ridiculous money off of them but I want to increase the interest in bloods... Im planning on selling the blacks for 200-250 each when they are breeding... Its a long time away so im not too worried right now... The red bloods I plan on selling them for 100-150...
