lol Snakes are like tattoos, or potato chips....can't stop at just one...they're addicting. ;)

I still have 4 more I want to add to my collection. That's not including rescues or killer deals on a really nice animal if I have the means and/or money lol

BRB in the spring/summer. Got the parents picked out already :D

Waiting on some eggs to hatch for a purple retic so I can put a deposit on one.

Eventually a hypo burm and a green tree python. Those will probably be another year or so away unless I find a great deal on some stuff. I really want to make a dedicated room for my animals so I can make some nice homes for them. But that's not gonna happen until we move to Oklahoma. I'm hoping we'll be there before the eggs hatch for the retic and mama has her baby BRB's.

Yea i think when i get more snakes i'll probably try making a room for them too because from what i've read it helps with temperatures. If i were to get more snakes i'm not sure what i would get in all honesty. For now however i'm focusing on making the best enclosure i possible can haha

Just focus on the little critter you have now. The only reason I'm comfortable with having so many right now is because I've kept snakes for years a few years ago. I've had to make some minor adjustments to my husbandry of them, but alot of that's due to much better info and husbandry techniques that are available today.

On a side note, I've always wanted a retic, but when I used to keep they were considered spawns of satan. However I often felt that if handled more with more regularity, they could make excellent large pets. They're like a dream pet for me :) I'm glad years later that my inexperienced "hunch" has been proven right. However, I do realize no matter how passive certain types of snakes can be, you can still get one that will be the devil reincarnated. lol

Lol yea i got lucky mine is pretty docile, Eric said i should hold her and i gave it a try today while i was waiting for her enclosure to heat back up (i cleaned it) and she just went in my sleeve and relaxed with me a bit haha

I don't think holding them while cleaning, even for a new animal hurts anything, as long as they're pretty mellow about it. We pick our PRB up with a clean shirt or sock (since it's smaller, I prefer it) for me to do a quick clean on her tub. It's the least stressful way we've found to move her around so I can clean without causing her to strike and making it even more stressful.

I should just leave it alone unless it's really dirty, but old habits are kind of hard to break. I change paper and give fresh water daily. I'm kind of OCD about it. Plus it gives them a little interaction time while I do it in case I've been really busy that day and haven't had a chance to give them a proper outing.

I cleaned her tub because i heard that with BRB's mold and bacteria is an issue because of the high humidity and i figured the bedding i had put in could stand to be changed out. i didnt hold her while i cleaned, i put her in her cup and put that in a warm, dark container so she could relax and then like i said i held her a bit while i waited for her home to warm up again. it was nice she more or less cuddled with me :D
