This thread is for posting why you love your snakes-not the species as a whole, but your snakes as individuals! I'lll kick it off by saying why I love Zoey, my baby BCI.

I love Zoey because she's a great eater, has great colors, and has an incredibly docile temperament. She also has gorgeous eyes! Zoey is just chillaxed. She's honestly the kind of snake that you can just veg on the couch and watch Beavis and Butt-head, listen to AC/DC, or read Reptiles Magazine with. She's ridiculously tame, as I said before, and even puts up with my dog investigating her. Since I got her as a little baby 3 months ago, she has not lashed out at anything or anyone.

Now it's your turn-why do you love YOUR snakes?

I love them 'cause they don't give me any guff and they complain a lot less than any of the people I know :D

What a great thread topic! I love it :D

Kaybe, my cinnamon ball python: I love Kaybe because he's gentle, patient, incredibly tolerant of handling, and never in a bad mood. He sits on my lap while I do college work keeping me company. He has helped a few of my friends overcome their fear of snakes.

Pika, my albino ball python: I love Pika because he's tiny (at least for now!), absolutely stunning, and friendly. He eats like a champ!! He has a wonderful temperament and I'm sure he will grow to be a lifelong friend to me :)

I love positive stuff like this

I love my normal BP because he's so friendly. He's pretty active, and even though he's a stubborn little bugger and get's into trouble whenever I bring him out, he's great to be around and very tolerant if a little jumpy around other people. Although he's frustrating to feed, he takes so looooong.
I love my red-tail because it's so pretty and also very tolerant and loves to just hang out and just gobbles down everything in sight. lol

Haha sounds like mine!

I love him because he makes me smile when I walk in my room and see him, in his tank, doing wierd stuff. I love him because he's fond of tickling my ears with his tongue and he likes to climb up on my head, wrap around it like he was a headband and view the world through my eyes. He is also super gentle, I have also used him to get a few people over the fears and assumptions they have of snakes. Proving they aren't slimy!

I love all my snakes because its so soothing to handle them and have them slither around my hands wrists and shoulders. The feeling is the same as watching a fish tank. This is one reason I dont ever want a snake that I cannot pull out and handle. (This rules out GTPs and ETBs for me I guess, but oh well) I also love the different color patterns of the different species.

I love Kota because he is a eating machine. He will take mice, rats, Guinea pigs, gerbils and hamsters.

I love Cee Cee...my female eastern garter, because she was wild caught so she is skiddish and feisty. She hides from me but then plays these little peek-a-boo games from her rock hide...poking her head out to look at me. When she doesn't want to be messed with...she lets me know it!

I love Seeley, my male eastern garter, because he is so little and cute and curious...he looks for me and comes right up to me and just stares at me from inside his viv with the cutest little face in the world.

I love Hermes, my baby albino checkered garter, because he is so tiny and funny after he eats....his little tummy swells up bigger than his little head!

I love kevin and perry our two baby corns (who are nearly two but will always be babies to us) cos they were our first snakes.

I love Sunny cos we "rescued" him and i got him from musking every time he was touched to now him being one of my frontline snakes in our educational shows.

I love Monty cos he is a "normal" bp and i prefer them to morphs

I love Doc (SD) cos he is our biggest snake and looks intimidating but is puppy dog tame - and then turns evil when food is around

I love Jim (JCP) cos he is primeval - all teeth and attitude

I love Hogan (GTP) cos he is our "trophy show snake"

Lets see...

I love "Tread" because she is just so sweet and mellow.

I Love "Spot" because he's a mental case and no one else will.

my Infernalis' because they remind me of my old lady, pretty & evil mean all at once.

Toby - My black racer - he's off the charts, he will slam into the glass just to taste you

But most of all I love Chomper, because he has a superior brain, ears, eyelids, will "hold hands" knows his name, and can actually feel something in return. ( I know he's not a snake )

I'm gonna do my lizard. Might as well expand the thread to all reptiles since many of us have turtles, lizards and crocodilians too.

I love Drake (beardie) because:
1. he's curious and very aware, always watching you and seeing what your doing.
2. he's CUTE!
3. he's finally learning to trust me enough to fall asleep on me :)

My normal BP because he's a typical goofy BP. He's always being silly :P

One of my dumerils and burm are like babies. Literally. They both love when I cradle them. I think it's because they feel safer feeling something all around them.

The burm is more of a baby though. She can literally be handfed (sometimes the only way she'll take her food...she's been a bit of a problem feeder) and actually nuzzles me sometimes. The burm is about 6 months old now and is finally starting to put on some good weight. The only time she's grumpy is during shed when her eyes are milky. Other than that, she's very laid back.

Both Dumerils are shy. One more than the other. I think it's adorable :p I haven't had as much interaction with the other because my boyfriend is her main handler. She's alot more curious, which always makes me smile when I see her head follow my movements when I'm near her cage. :D

Lastly, BabyGirl, our other albino burm, is pretty much your typical burm. Hearty eater that will eat anything, anytime, anywhere. When she's awake, she's cruising her cage and demands to be let out, only to go to sleep once you have her in your lap. She's really laid back, seems to crave human attention (or prefers us to her cage....lesser of two evils? :p ) She's also the only one I've never had a problem with so at least she makes me feel as if I'm doing something right lol

I love them all for their completely different personalities. A couple are really rewarding to have, others just great pets all around.

Some of the many great reasons to have them as pets! No worrying about hair all over the floor....poo or pee from accidents if you don't make it home in time from work to let them out, they don't jump on company, beg at the dinner table, don't wake you up at 3am to let them out to go to the bathroom or investigate a noise they heard.

Best. Pets. Ever. :D

Oh my, I love Saphie (sapphire) because she's our first...and she's sweet, easygoing, loves to eat, and loves having her head scratched (she tilts towards the scratching, so cute!)

I love Copper, my first hognose...because he's adorable! Easy going, sometimes a ravenous feeder, sometimes a brat...always "nosing" me, and loves to explore my shirt *lol*

I love Perry (peridot), my other hognose..because he's a bratty cute little baby! He's just too cute not to love.

I love Silver our jungle/coastal carpet python, even though i shouldn't. She's mean, cranky, solitary, and just plain doesn't like us. But, i love her all the more!

I love Sandy, our new sand boa, because he's adorable! So good natured. Funny little burrower who likes to sit in my bra *lol*

I care a lot of r Ribs, our rescued BP, Bitey, another rescue, Jasper, our first rescue.

I love "Corn snake"...I named her citrine, but we just keep calling her corn snake. BRatty little thing, always wants to flail around, but i try to calm her down, stick a mouse in front of her and she's happy *lol*

I got two Dumeril's boas, Tanzy (tanzanite) and rusty, but I never really do anything with them. They've both gone into cold mode now, almost right after i got them. They hide, don't eat, and dont' really like being held, though they do just sit in the crook of your arm or on your belly. They are so COLD though i don't like holding them. I'm cold enough right now *lol*

Platinum..platy our bolivian boa is very nice. But she actually annoys me because she pees, and then sits in it. EVERY TIME. drives us nuts. We't just reverted to calling her "stinky" lol She's pretty nice and a good eater though. Just not as affectionate as say, Saphie or the hogs.

Hmm that might be it! I have a very nice rose hair tarantual i love, who is so forgiving and gentle, that i rescued. I love my little red eyed croc skink, Dragon, who is a goofty little toy looking thing...and we just got a baby pixie frog today who acted upset, but then CHASED his worms down, so he's a little fibber *lol*

But, i do love mah snakes!!!

They inspire me to learn about their natural history (and snakes in general)... I have been to every location where my snakes naturally occur to have a look first hand at what their natural settings are like.

As well as most of the other reptiles I keep...

I love Evil (boa) because...well, she is just evil lol

...Spooky (boa) because he has a little pointy head with big eyes and is super friendly

...Snakey (ball) because he got us back into snakes after a few years of not having any

...Jaws (bull) because he is ALWAYS grumpy and angry and doesn't take no crap from nobody. Not even the cat who sits by the glas and pisses him off.

...Ratchet (bull) because he is always poking his little head out of his home to say his and is a vicious eater who will pull the rat pup lightning fast into his house to eat it.

...Charlos (king x milk) because he is soo tiny with the cutest little white chin. He is so curious and always following you around the glass of his enclosure. Always comes out to say hi.

...(unnamed) (Taiwan Beauty) well, don't know much about this one yet but he is really pretty and super fast. I have a feeling this one is going to keep me on my toes.

I love Siegfried, my Ball Python, because he is the first snake i got almost 8 years ago, and also because of his great temperament. He also always lays his head on the top of my hand when i go to change his water.

Pedro, my BRB, because of his gorgeous coloring, his healthy appetite, and also because of his gentle demeanor. He was sold to me as the son of Satan, meaning he bit everyone that handled him, etc. And that was so far from the truth.

I love Elvis, my Grey Banded King for his alertness, his coloring, and his great appetite.

I love my Female Paradox Albino Sand Boa Cleo for being my first , and hopefully not last, Albino, her temperament, and the fact she has given me 2 litters, one of 13, and another of 17 healthy babies=)

I have to agree, this is why I love my snakes, they sooth me and I can afford to have more than one or two (6 now!), which means I have the choice of multiple, beautiful morphs. They are undemanding of time, which suits my new life of having a school-age, special needs son. They are soothing to handle, or just to watch and all have different personalities? I don't know if snakes have personalities or not (I know, another thread) but mine all act differently from each other, and I know who will sit with me or who will be more active, I know who to pull out at what times in my house.

They don't jump on you, your guests, don't bark, don't tear things up, and they live a long time.

I have always been facinated with snakes, I love watching them move around and investigate. When I am stressed out I enjoy holding Sasha and concentrating on how she moves, feeling her muscles as she propels herself forward. It has become part of a meditation. She moves slowly and deliberatly and I find her actions very realxing. Sasha likes her shove her nose in my ear, inhales and exhales into it, it tickles when she does. I don't know why she does it, I guess my ear smells good to her. She rubs her face on mine and likes bumping our noses. I don't understand her actions but I like to think it's her way of showing affection/trust/happiness.

I love my snakes because they are the a couple of the most interesting and unique animals ever. Each has it's own personality(even if it can be a moody one at times)lol.

The colors - this covers all of them, but especially the Okeetees.

The fact that if I want to forget about them for a few days, that is perfectly fine. They are low maintenance.

And yes, I love the way they feel in my hand as well.

There is something special about them that I can't put into words...
