nice pick ups man, the pattern on the first one is unreal, just like the lack of pattern on the second one.

Mack is a bit bigger(1 yr older) but lots of similarities.
Very pretty. I saw some Argentines at an expo I was at last month & fell in love. And it looks like yours has the best of both Colombian and Argentine. Congrats!
I hate when they mess up bloodlines.

So long as nobody misrepresents what it is, where's the harm?

Beautiful boas, aj099!

B. constrictor occidentalis x B. constrictor Imperator.
No phisical harm, just destroying pure blood lines.

Sorry, I disagree. It's not like the parents were destroyed after the babies were born. Nothing was destroyed here. Unless this boa is later sold as pure-blood one or the other, that I would definitely have a problem with.

I agree, it makes the animal unique in its own way. Just as long as it wasn't bred and misrepresented as a pure bred then there isn't really any harm. But those are some beautiful snakes aj099

Well it's a shame to say that this snake probably has 20+ siblings. Now who's to say out of those 20+ one wont be bred with another boa to produce another 20+ un pure bloodlines. Now there is alot of un pure bloodlines introduced into the trade. Now times the numbers by 10

Very true, lets just hope the people who get those snakes will be experienced enough to tell the difference between "pure" and "unpure".

I guess that's probably a more realistic point of view. But still, the guy got a new snake and is excited about it. And it is pretty.

Can't [and im not] hate on a beautiful snake. Pure or un-pure.

Have you ever came across an ugly snake... I haven't, they are all beautiful. The thing that bugs me is they get labeled improperly down the road.

I love Argentines and the one you have in the first set of pics is truly amazing. If we were to ever expand our collection, it would be with a pair of Argentines.
hey i thought id post this to.
this is him on his hunt for his food he is still stuck on live,i will be switching him soon
Small argentine Boa hunt and strike (live feeading) - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-zWh3byDhM)
No question your snake is a stunner I love the argentin influence.
No offense, but that guys a tool, snakes just don't accidentally breed. Cohabiting is a big mistake, unless planing to breed.
also i did some temp reading`s what do you think?
first basking ledge 90 day 85 night
second basking ledge 113 day 90 at night
coldest area 83 day 79 night
hide 90 both day and night
humidity is always 55% to 60% i turn it up for shedding.
let me know your though`s :D

There are obviously differing opinions on feeding live and my opinion is there is nothing wrong with it as long as youre careful and always supervise. Some people prefer stunning when feeding live and this is acceptable as well. In fact, its even safer to stun the prey. My rats are tame so Ive never had an incident but I always supervise just in case.
Im only stating what has worked for me and I certainly dont want to start a debate but you dont have to apologize for feeding live. Its perfectly ok with me.
Why risk it.... And 113 is high

Because f/t is a hassle and my snakes prefer live, but I dont want to hijack this thread. Its about the Argentine and once again, its beautiful and I want a pair someday.

yes i agree! i wanted another boa and couldn`t afford anything crazy fancy like moonglow`s and sunglow`s and such so i found this guy!
he is amazing

yes i thought so to but that is the highest part of the terrarium .
they do not have to go there unless they want to

That's not right, lower the temps into 90-95 for basking area and cool end/night should be 78-80.

IMO. You have a WAY better looking boa compared to a Moonglow or Sunglow.
thank you so much :D
i really love my boa`s i will lower there temps!:bouncy:

just a second opinion on how it might have happened, sometimes when you can't get a desired pair to breed, you throw another male in with the female to induce breeding, sometimes accidents happen, this could have been one.
Usually the shed of another male is the better choice though.
