The new one comes in tomorrow. I have a 33qt tub that's ready for her however I'm wondering if it may be a little big? If so I need to pick a smaller one up after work.

Here's the pic again just in case you need it. Thanks for the help!

Congrats!! Very pretty.
Not sure on the tub though, I would say it's fine considering 33q=8.25 gallons and a 10g is usually good for a hatchling BRB

The 33qt tub should be fine :) lets us know what your boyfriend's reaction is!!

I've got my BRB in a 34 right now and he's about 6 months old, give or take. That should be fine for your little one for a year or so.

Thanks! Got it set up (moved another out to a bigger home)...cool side temps are 74 with hot side at 85....humidity is 71, which is about spot on from the care sheet I have bookmarked. Now she needs to come home! Hurry up Mr. Fed-Ex Man!!!!!! :D

Congrates! Sounds like your BRB is going to be very comfortable in her new home. :D

I think the tub may be too big for her. She's so tiny! I have two hides, water bowl, and a ladder for her to climb on, and it's still huge compared to my little baby. She loves the ladder though :D

Poor little thing is striking at everything that moves. I really haven't handled her except to attempt to move her so I could put her water dish back and she nailed me again (good thing it doesn't hurt lol). She struck at the water bowl, the lid...me. I'm not sure if she's just that stressed or if it's normal for them to be this nippy this age (3 months). I do know they are nippy but how much is normal?

I'm thinking about getting her a much smaller tub. I was going to feed Monday, but not sure if I should wait a little longer to see how she calms down. I was thinking if she eats she'll probably be fine with the tub she's in now. But if she doesn't she may be stressed from too big of an enclosure and needs something smaller.

If you don't want to move her into a new tub (which might stress her out even more to move again), put a lot more hides and those plastic leaves etc in there to give her more security. She may be stressed hence being super nippy. Babies are nippy, but not that nippy usually. Just give her more to hide in and cover herself. It's only been 2 days since she's been home, right? I'd give her a week to settle in before you offer her food so she has more time to settle in, and she'll be more likely to eat. Good luck! :)

Beautiful PRB Congrats. I am guessing your getting him from Jeff Clark?

Yep! Very nice man! Can't say enough good things about him. He seems to have a genuine care for his animals (even though he could have shipped her earlier when temps were above 40, he suggested we wait until they were forcasted to be in the 60's at night). Gave me tons of tips, a care sheet, feed schedule, etc. Couldn't be happier with the overall transaction.

My buddy Shawn got his BRB from him. He is great guy and has amazing animals. I believe he the only person breeding PRB in the U.S. What cool about PRB is they really color up around two years of age and keep their color where BRB will fade some with time.

Ya. That's one of the reasons I chose a PRB over the BRB right now. I still really want a BRB too. The subtle differences in the animals intrigue me, but I really love their patterns and colors. I have at least 2 of each kind of snake I have, all females except one that I need to have probed.

I can't wait to see how she colors up. I believe there's another person selling PRB's on KS.com but I chose Jeff because of the little bit of info I found on him made him sound like he is one of the if not the best breeder of BRB's/PRB's and all his feedback is positive.

can you post a picture of the current setup?
I would leave her alone completely for about a week, my guy was really docile when I got him, but I've heard baby rainbow boas can have "tiny snake syndrome" pretty bad.

She seems to be doing better the last couple of days. I did decide to put her in a smaller tub (16 QT) and so far no strikes at anything while I change water, etc. Earlier I had to change her paper and the boyfriend picked her up and briefly held her for the 2 minutes or so it took me to change it and put everything back. She didn't attempt to strike nor act defensive or scared.

She has two hides, one on each side, two water bowls, again...one on each side (used two to make the tub appear smaller and I've caught her in both), and a paper towel holder that she seems to really like. Temps on the hot side are 80-81, cool side hovers around 72-73 with humidity of 80-85. On both care sheets I'm working from it says the humidity should be high but doesn't give a number. Should I make it higher?

I'm thinking about making a humid hide out of one of her hides.

70-80% is what I keep my guy at, I would try and raise the cool side to above 75, but that's just me.
If yours is bathing regularly check to make sure she didn't bring some guests with her.

She does get in her bowls, but so far I haven't seen anything floating around in either bowl. Nothing on her paper (substrate) either.

How old is your guy? They say babies require more humidity.....

I'll bump her cool side up a bit. Thanks for the help :)

6 months or so, perfect sheds every time. Day gradient is 75 cool, 83 warm, night is 75 across the entire tub, 70-80% humidity. Cyprus mulch substrate, (Nero loves to burrow), 2 hides, I had a tree and a vine thing from the pet store for him to crawl on when he was in an aquarium, but in a tub now I don't have the height necessary for that.
