OK gang, this is not herp related, but I have been hired to do a local government web site, and I would like your opinions of the work so far.

I present the bill on Monday and I am attending the board meeting on Tuesday, so your opinions and criticisms are welcome and encouraged.

If you find any problems, or you think it sucks, please do not hesitate to say so.

Thanks everyone.

Welcome to Tyrone New York (http://www.townoftyrone.org/)

Let me have it!

I didn't much care for the office directory color scheme.
I would maybe have the town's crest or logo centered in the background of the home page and have the text scroll over it.

Wow you made that :O It looks awesome!! I wish I could make websites...

Oh and don't forget this xx either "The town of Tyrone highway department strives to maintain the xxx miles of town owned radways with a fleet of xxx maintenance vehicles"
under Office Directory.

Actually, i like it a lot. There doesn't seem to be much info, and i think since there isn't, it's a nice layout. I can't tell if i love, or hate the photo though *lol*
It's like, a good and interesting photo, but not what i'd think of to promote a town kind of photo.

Tyrone is a rinky dink tiny little town. The drab building is the town hall, and they have no "official crest"

No one was available today to give me the statistics like year established, population or how many miles of roadway.

I will be toying with it tomorrow.. Adding some pages, but there really isn't much to say.

Let's just say the highlight will be the postmaster standing behind the counter in the little 24x24 post office.

There is one church, I am doing a page about services, and food pantry hours.

It looks great Wayne, but there are a couple of things missing that I couldn't easily find, so I am not sure if they are there or not:

County Gov’t Careers Link (Open Positions)

Example: http://www.co.saint-marys.md.us Top right corner, green tab reads “Jobs”
which brings you to: http://www.co.saint-marys.md.us/jobs.asp

Marriage License:
I found Copies of Marriage Records (1908-1931), and Dissolution of Marriage fees, but could not find Marriage Certificate application and Fees.

Example: http://www.courts.state.md.us/clerks/stmarys/index.html
Far left mid-way down

Business & Tourism
Couldn’t find link for the BBB:

Better Business Bureau
BBB of Upstate New York
WWW: http://upstateny.bbb.org
Email: geninquiries@upstatenybbb.org
Phone: (716)881-5222
Fax: (716)883-5349

Like I said one post up.. Blink and miss the town.

I have no control over the county site (Linked)

However, I do have some ideas for the Township site..

Since the fire department is funded by the town... Do a whole page for them.

And a break down of the "Honor Roll"

http://www.townoftyrone.org/Pictures/honor.jpg

And the historic School building.... How "little house on the prairie" is this??

For a small town with not much to have a website about. I would say you did well. I am a firm believer in keeping it simple.

Thanks.. The real profit will come from maintenance and server fees anyways.

The board only meets once a month, and if I want any money from them before Christmas, I need something up and running by the meeting on Tuesday.

Not many people riding MX this time of year, so the income from my track has all but ceased until spring.

I do still see an occasional die hard, but nothing to survive on.

I think it looks good. Very simple and that's always best IMHO.

The little area I grew up in has several little House on the Prairie type school houses like that and several very similar (just add a little steeple) churches. LOL

Yes, but in NY snowmobiles have access to state land, ATV and dirt bikes do not.

So I can charge rent on my property to allow dirt bikes and ATV riders a place to ride without harassment by the law.

Snowmobiles just pass on through while going to the store for gas.

I don't like the text wider apart like that. I liked it much better when it was more centered in the screen.

Other than that, doing great!

That was awesome, Thanks

Line 20 was a cut and paste from the address bar when I used google maps.

I probably should just download the rand mcnally map and use the JPG file from there.
